The Opportunity:

Flexport is seeking a Drayage Procurement Manager to own procurement, pricing, and allocation strategy across the East Coast. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining a competitive carrier network, negotiating rates and contracts, and serving as the market expert for your region. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on strategy, drive profitability, and accelerate growth. Success in this role requires the ability to forge strong carrier partnerships, apply data-driven insights to decision making, and proactively identify opportunities to optimize Flexport’s drayage network.

You Will:

  • Source, vet, and onboard a high-quality network of drayage carriers to meet the specific needs across East Coast markets, ensuring contracts, compliance, and insurance documents are in order.
  • Act as the Drayage Market expert providing regular market updates, leading internal enablement sessions, and sharing insights on market conditions and nuances
  • Manage carrier pricing by executing buy-side strategies and leading the execution of all carrier annual and off-cycle RFPs
  • Partner with Sales and Demand teams on client solutions and growth initiatives by attending client meetings, shaping sell-side margin strategies, and driving higher attachment rates to expand Flexport’s drayage business across North America
  • Proactively farm your carrier network to drive cost reductions and maintain up-to-date accessorial tariffs and baseline rate structures.
  • Drive P&L performance by providing key data inputs and business context for financial planning, and by supporting invoicing, audit, and dispute resolution.
  • Collaborate with the Carrier Management team to align on service performance and technology adoption. Your insights will directly inform network strategy and allocation decisions.
  • Own and manage the allocation strategy across your markets, ensuring the Allocation Tool and corresponding inputs are accurate to optimize both cost and performance.
  • Partner with the Procurement Technology team to represent business needs for new tool development and improvements.

You should have:

  • BA/BS degree and 5-7+ years of experience in trucking, freight forwarding, or a related supply chain role, with a focus on Ocean or Drayage
  • Proven experience in carrier or partners facing role including procurement and management functions
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving
  • Deep knowledge of the North American drayage market and industry trends
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve shared business goals
