Job Overview

The Office of Human Subject Protections (OHSP) is responsible for the review of all research activities that involve human subjects in accordance with federal regulations. The OHSP operations analyst will work under the direction of the Senior Director of the OHSP to manage the administrative functions necessary for the successful operations of the office.  These functions include being the first point of contact for the OHSP offices, Email management, operational meeting agendas and minutes, administrative management of IRB membership, IRB account creation and trouble-shooting, paper and electronic file management, website development and management, carrying out financial functions (IRB charge back and tracking, expense approvals, supply ordering), coordination of the compilation of OHSP metrics for required reporting, general correspondence, create and publish public communication, and assist in managing office HR actions. Additionally assist in account management of HURON, CITI and others as needed.

Work Interactions

The Office of Human Subject Protections serves as the official oversight office for human subject research activities at Georgetown University. The Office of Human Subject Protections reports to the Medical Center Vice President (VP) for Research and the Vice Provost of Research for the Main Campus. The OHSP program coordinator reports directly to the Senior Director of the OHSP.  They will serve to assist both the Office of Research Quality Assurance and the Institutional Review Board that fall under the OHSP.  The position will interact with the research community as the first point of contact for the office and will assist in creating and publishing any public facing materials and communication. As such, this position requires someone with collaborative and concise verbal and written communication skills. The program coordinator will engage directly with the staff in OHSP on a daily basis to triage incoming communication.  The individual in the position will be a critical member of the OHSP to ensure efficient operations. 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience in operational management skills

  • Experience demonstrating highly effective communications skills and ability to work on multiple projects.

  • Computer proficiency is required, including MS Word, Excel, internet browsers, and email.

  • Basic financial management skills

  • Experience using video meeting and scheduling platforms.

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications

  • Masters in health care management, business or certificate in project management

  • Previous experience in administrative position

  • Website management

  • Familiarity with IRB/research software platforms

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
