Job description
Habeo is building the asset system of record for higher education — a platform designed to replace ServiceNow ITAM at universities, with native Workday integration, GASB 34/35 compliance, and continuous MDM ingestion from Jamf, Intune, and Google Admin. We're looking for an AI Engineer to help build and scale the intelligence layer behind the product, including the Habeo Copilot experience that lets faculty and staff self-serve questions like refresh eligibility and equipment handling directly in Slack and Teams.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and iterate on AI-powered features such as the Habeo Copilot conversational assistant
- Develop and evaluate LLM-based pipelines for natural language understanding over asset, lifecycle, and compliance data
- Integrate AI features with core product data sources, including the CMDB relationship graph and continuous MDM/Workday data feeds
- Build evaluation frameworks and monitoring to track model quality, latency, and reliability in production
- Collaborate with product and engineering to identify high-value AI use cases across the asset lifecycle
- Own the full lifecycle of AI features from prototyping through production deployment and iteration
What we're looking for
- Experience building and shipping production AI/ML or LLM-powered features, not just prototypes
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, production-grade code
- Practical experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, or fine-tuning
- Comfort working with structured data models and integrating AI features with existing product data
- Ability to reason about evaluation, safety, and reliability tradeoffs for AI features used by non-technical end users
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in a small, fast-moving team
Nice to have
- Experience building AI features for enterprise or B2B SaaS products
- Familiarity with conversational interfaces such as Slack or Microsoft Teams bots
- Experience working with graph-based or relational data models
- Background in developer tools, IT operations, or compliance-heavy domains
