About the Team

The Growth Engineering team at Mixpanel is responsible for increasing user activation and driving self-serve revenue. We work closely with Product, Design, and Marketing to grow the funnel of customers landing on our platform, implementing Mixpanel, and seeing value fast. We move fast, experiment constantly, and measure everything.

Within growth: this role is for the Top of Funnel Pod, a small crew specifically targeting user acquisition and activation. Some examples of what we’ve shipped lately:

  • Agentic onboarding
  • Experiment: Home page new feature product setup nudges
  • Experiment: MCP connection

About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Growth team, you will build and optimize the experiences that drive user acquisition, activation, and conversion at Mixpanel. A key focus of this role is web experimentation — you'll design, implement, and analyze experiments across our product onboarding flows and other surface areas to improve key growth metrics. You'll work across the full stack, from frontend UI changes to backend data pipelines, and collaborate with Product and Design to turn experiment insights into product improvements. This is a high-impact role where your work directly influences Mixpanel's top-of-funnel growth and self-serve revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and analyze experiments across Mixpanel's product and onboarding flows to optimize acquisition and activation metrics
  • Partner with Product and Design to identify high-impact experiment hypotheses grounded in data and user research
  • Instrument tracking and build dashboards (in Mixpanel!) to measure experiment outcomes and inform iteration
  • Build and improve onboarding experiences that drive down time to value, and increase activation rates for new Mixpanel users
  • Participate in team on-call rotation to improve our systems and keep them healthy

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

  • At least 2 years of full-stack software engineering experience
  • Excellent debugging and technical investigation skills
  • Comfort using modern AI coding tools
  • Experience running growth experimentation
  • Strong technical communication, ideally with experience collaborating in an asynchronous remote environment
  • Ability to move fast and iterate — you take ownership of problems and focus on delivering value to users
  • A data-driven mindset

Bonus Points For

  • Interest in leveraging AI/GenAI to accelerate experimentation workflows
  • Prior experience on a growth engineering team or in a growth-focused role
  • React / TypeScript experience
  • Django / Python experience
  • Experience with experimentation platforms (e.g. Mixpanel, Optimizely, LaunchDarkly, Statsig, or similar)

Benefits and Perks

  • Comprehensive Medical, Vision, and Dental Care
  • Mental Wellness Benefit
  • Generous Vacation Policy & Additional Company Holidays
  • Enhanced Parental Leave
  • Volunteer Time Off
  • Additional US Benefits: Pre-Tax Benefits including 401(K), Wellness Benefit, Holiday Break

*please note that benefits and perks for contract positions will vary*
