Position Summary

Arts & Science is seeking a dedicated Systems Administrator to join the Center for Neural Science. This individual will respond to incoming incidents and provide incident management. Provide first line trouble shooting and tier one server support, which includes diagnosing repairing hardware, recommending solutions, checking that problems have been corrected, and maintaining solutions schema documentation. Facilitating smooth operation of hardware and software on computing systems. Play a central role in support of departmental computing systems; supporting installation, testing, maintenance, upgrades and administration of operating system and application software; monitoring backup systems for performance , and implementing security. Assisting with implementation and execution of system policies measures to adhere with departmental policies and standards. Develop network solutions to address present and future needs, including analyzing network hardware and software needs and recommending changes and upgrades to promote efficient service to all users. Assist with website design, data archival, and distribution methods. Ensure that systems are in compliance with University IT policies; coordinate procurement and vendor contract negotiations; and supervise.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent n Computer Science, Computer Programming, Engineering, or Information Technology.Required Experience:2+ years years of relevant experience with system administration including installation, maintenance, and support or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience with operating systems, servers, hardware, network administration, authentication systems, client-server applications, designing/developing system enhancements and software applications, scripting experience, application software, protocols, tools, and utilities. Experience with capacity planning, monitoring, and maintenance of Linux and Windows servers and the services they provide. Experience providing administration and support to 24x7 production systems.Preferred Experience:3+ years years of experience with architecture, implementing and administering Linux and Windows based solutions, experience managing storage devices such as NAS’, troubleshooting and solving difficult system problems (hardware, software, and basic networking). Experience administering servers hosting Active Directory, Apache, Virtual Machines, MS SQL. Experience with Ansible, Puppet, BigFix, WorkspaceOne, BeyondTrust, InsightVM, CortexXDR, Splunk, Tufin and automation technologies. Experience working in a global delivery environment. Experience managing and implementing projects with Active Directory, Privileged Access Management (PAM), and multi-factor and single sign-on authentication.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Familiarity with multi-vendor hardware/software management, security, network/Internet protocols. May require any of the following: problem identification/resolution, performance management/tuning. Knowledge of related large-scale computing systems and/or product installs and maintenance. Ability to provide technical support for complex, large-scale computing systems projects. Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience. Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with Endpoint Management & Patch Policy, Vulnerability Remediation, Microsoft Windows Server, MacOS, Active Directory, Redhat Linux, NAS Raid Arrays, File Transfer Protocols, ACL’s, production support in a distributed system environment.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Strong experience in supporting large Linux and Windows server environments. Experience in managing, monitoring, deploying, and troubleshooting servers. Demonstrate knowledge and extensive experience with enterprise technical environments, including IP Segmentation & Firewalling, DNS, VLANS, InfoSec, and related technologies. Knowledge of enterprise-class backup and disaster recovery environments including failover and data restoration techniques, . Knowledge of cloud technology and hybrid cloud implementation a plus. Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash & Python. VCP, ITIL and Red Hat/Microsoft certifications a plus. Planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities. In-depth experience with Disaster Recovery and Avoidance planning. Knowledge of cloud providers including AWS, Azure, and GC as well as on-prem server equipment (Synology NAS, Dell PowerEdge). Deployment and cloud integration of NEAT/ZOOM AV conferencing nodes.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000 to USD $77,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
