This is a key role in Northeastern’s storytelling engine, conceptualizing, shooting, and editing fast-turnaround content that responds to trends, showcases the spirit of the university experience, and communicates news and information in creative ways.

The Social Video Producer regularly appears on camera as part of a rotating team presence, and works with the team of content creators to shoot both short and longer-form content as needed, including podcast-style interviews and executive-level video projects. This is a hands-on production role that requires an abundance of creative ideas, the ability to multitask at a fast pace, and the ability to engage with people to create engaging vertical videos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, shoot, and edit daily social-first news and storytelling content, primarily for TikTok and Instagram.
  • Appear on camera regularly as part of a rotating team presence.
  • Stay ahead of platform trends and news cycles to identify timely content opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years shooting and editing in a professional environment, with a strong portfolio of vertical, social-first video.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and/or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Demonstrated ability to shoot and edit both short and longer-form video, including interview-style and multi-camera setups, and condense those into consumable, social-forward content.
  • Solid news judgement.
  • Strong on-camera presence and experience appearing in social video content.
  • Deep, current knowledge of social platform trends, news cycles, and how to translate fast-moving stories into engaging vertical video.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction.
  • Excellent attention to detail while maintaining speed and consistency under deadline pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Excellent work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Sense of humor.

Great if you also have:

  • Experience producing or shooting podcast-style video content.
