POSITION SPECIFICS
The Computer Science and Engineering Department at Penn State invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position in quantum computing, working with Professors Chunhao Wang and Xiantao Li.
The successful candidate will conduct research on the development and analysis of quantum algorithms, with particular emphasis on simulating quantum systems and applications to scientific computing. Topics of interest include Hamiltonian simulation, open quantum system dynamics, quantum state preparation, and quantum algorithms for optimization and sampling. Responsibilities include developing algorithmic techniques, establishing theoretical performance guarantees, conducting numerical investigations as appropriate, collaborating with faculty and graduate students, and disseminating research through journal publications and conference presentations.
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline by the appointment start date. Candidates should have strong mathematical and analytical skills, a demonstrated record of research relevant to the position, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: quantum algorithms, quantum information theory, quantum simulation, numerical analysis, or scientific computing. Candidates with complementary expertise and a strong interest in quantum computing are also encouraged to apply.
