Remote Recruitment is hiring an SEO and Paid Media Executive for a UK digital marketing agency, fully remote from South Africa, owning SEO, AI search visibility (AEO and GEO) and paid media across client accounts.
Our client is an ambitious UK-based digital marketing agency, part of a wider group of specialist businesses. Search is shifting from links to AI-driven answers in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. This role blends hands-on paid media (Google Ads, paid social, Shopping) with generative engine optimisation (GEO) and answer engine optimisation (AEO), so clients are cited in AI answers, not just ranked. Full-time, UK business hours.
Key responsibilities
• Technical SEO, schema, metadata and content optimisation directly inside client WordPress sites, plus audits covering Core Web Vitals, indexability, canonicals and crawl budget.
• Build client entities across Schema.org, Wikidata, Wikipedia and industry databases, and structure content to capture citations in AI Overviews, Perplexity and ChatGPT.
• Maintain AI discovery standards across client domains: llms.txt, robots.txt AI crawler directives and machine-readable Markdown.
• Build, optimise and scale paid search, display and social campaigns across Google Ads, Meta and LinkedIn to ROAS and CPA targets, including Google Merchant Center feeds for Shopping and Performance Max.
• Track rankings, LLM citation frequency and entity visibility in SE Ranking, maintain GTM and GA4 tracking, and deliver monthly and quarterly performance updates directly to clients.
Requirements
What you'll need
• 2 to 4+ years' hands-on experience across SEO and paid media, agency side preferred, including managing client paid spends of £10k+ per month.
• Hands-on experience building, editing and optimising pages in WordPress.
• Practical exposure to AEO and GEO: earning AI engine citations, building brand entities in Wikidata or Wikipedia, managing llms.txt, Schema.org and AI crawler permissions.
• Experience with SE Ranking, GA4, Google Tag Manager, Screaming Frog and Google Search Console, plus Google Merchant Center product feeds for Shopping and PMax.
• A confident communicator who can explain technical search concepts to clients in plain English.
Nice to have
• Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento experience.
• Working knowledge of server-side tracking and first-party data strategies.
• Campaigns run in international markets.
