Job description

Replit is the agentic software creation platform that enables anyone to build applications using natural language. With millions of users worldwide, Replit is democratizing software development by removing traditional barriers to application creation.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly technical, data-driven Growth Engineer to help scale our product and expand key user metrics across acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization. Growth Engineering sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and marketing—leveraging code, experimentation, and analytics to uncover opportunities and deliver measurable impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Experimentation & Optimization

    • Design, implement, and analyze rapid A/B and multivariate tests to validate hypotheses and improve key KPIs.

    • Identify bottlenecks in user funnels and develop technical solutions to improve conversion rates throughout the user lifecycle.

    Build and Scale Growth Features

    • Build growth-oriented product features such as onboarding flows, referral systems, and automated engagement loops.

    • Develop scalable code and infrastructure that supports growth initiatives and experimentation frameworks.

    Leverage Data & Metrics

    • Collaborate with data teams to instrument tracking, build dashboards, and derive insights from user behavior data.

    • Use SQL and analytics tools to deeply analyze cohorts, engagement metrics, and experiment outcomes.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner closely with product managers, designers, marketers, and data scientists to align on growth goals and execution plans.

    • Translate business goals into technical requirements and implement pragmatic solutions that drive sustainable growth.

    Continuous Innovation

    • Stay updated on industry trends and growth-oriented technologies and propose new tactics to accelerate growth.

    • Automate repetitive tasks and build internal tools to empower faster experimentation and execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Node, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go).

  • Experience with data analysis and database query languages (e.g., SQL).

  • Familiarity with instrumentation, analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude), and experimentation frameworks.

  • Comfort with designing and interpreting experiments grounded in statistical thinking.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Measurable improvements in user acquisition, onboarding, retention, and activation via experiments.

  • Scalable, well-instrumented growth capabilities that reduce manual effort and increase velocity.

  • Growth strategies and systems that become integrated into product development and long-term planning.

Why Join Us

  • This is a rare opportunity to be among the first engineers on a newly formed Growth team, with significant ownership and influence over both technical direction and product outcomes. You’ll be working on a product that scaled from ~2M to 250M users in under a year, operating in a massive and still largely untapped market. The impact of your work will be visible, measurable, and foundational to how the company grows next.

  • Impact how engineering and product teams scale solutions for millions of users.

  • Competitive compensation and benefits tailored to growth-focused engineers.

What applying to Replit usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through ashby for roles at Replit can typically expect an online application involving a resume submission and possibly some initial screening questions. The process may include multiple stages, such as a recruiter conversation, hiring manager discussion, and role-specific technical or skills assessments, depending on the position. For engineering or technical roles, candidates may encounter take-home assignments or live problem-solving exercises, while non-technical roles may involve case studies or portfolio reviews. Communication is often handled through the ashby platform, which may send automated status updates. Response times vary and can depend on team bandwidth and role seniority. Candidates should generally prepare to discuss relevant experience clearly, as ashby-based processes commonly emphasize structured, criteria-based evaluations rather than purely conversational interviews.
