About the team + role

We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world’s biggest financial problems. We’re looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn’t a place for complacency, it’s where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We’re a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.

The International engineering team's mission is to expand Robinhood's products globally and scale our platform to support millions of new customers in diverse markets. We build and maintain experiences across onboarding, funding, account setup, localized product experiences, growth incentives, and platform capabilities to operate in new jurisdictions. Our engineering team partners closely with product, design, compliance, marketing teams, along with an array of platform engineering teams to launch new products and optimize user acquisition globally. We prioritize technical rigor, system reliability, and quick execution to deliver reliable products to our growing customer base. Our culture is centered on clear communication, strong team partnership, and a commitment to helping people manage their financial lives!

As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you will be a core technical driver for Robinhood’s global expansion initiatives. You will bridge high-performance frontend interfaces with resilient backend distributed systems, architecting and delivering localized customer experiences—from multi-currency funding and international onboarding to regional asset trading. You will design reusable, extensible platform abstractions that allow Robinhood to scale seamlessly into new international markets while upholding uncompromising standards for security, availability, and compliance. In this role, you will lead complex technical designs, raise the engineering bar across the stack, and collaborate side-by-side with product managers, designers, compliance partners, and platform teams to build financial products for our worldwide community

This role is based in either our Toronto, Canada office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What you’ll do

  • Full Stack Architecture & Engineering: Develop and maintain high-quality frontend interfaces (React/TypeScript) and scale robust backend services (Go/Python)
  • Global Product Launches: Own the technical delivery of critical international capabilities, including localized onboarding funnels, identity verification (KYC/AML), multi-currency funding rails, and region-specific trading experiences
  • Growth and User Acquisition: Build and optimize high-leverage growth mechanisms, localized promotion engines, and user acquisition pipelines to accelerate international market adoption.
  • Reusable Internationalization Platforms: Architect modular, scalable frameworks and internationalization (i18n/l10n) services that make expanding to future jurisdictions faster, safer, and more reliable
  • System Reliability & Observability: Ensure backend services and localized products are built for high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance; implement comprehensive telemetry, automated testing, and participate in production on-call rotations
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Management, Product Design, Compliance, Legal, and Platform teams to translate jurisdictional requirements into elegant, user-centric technical solutions

What you bring

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production systems across the full stack
  • Frontend Depth: Proficiency with modern frontend technologies and frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript) with an emphasis on performance, accessibility, and state management
  • Backend & Distributed Systems: Strong experience building scalable distributed services in languages such as Go or Python, utilizing relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis), and working with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka)
  • Product Ownership: Proven track record of taking complex features from ambiguity through technical design, phased rollout, production validation, and post-launch maintenance
  • API & Systems Design: Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC, service-oriented architectures, and microservice integration patterns
  • Communication & Alignment: Clear, structured communication skills to articulate trade-offs, drive technical consensus across distributed teams, and align with non-technical stakeholders

What we offer

  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career

  • Performance driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, and equity ownership

  • Top tier benefits to fuel your work, including supplemental health insurance, ancillary insurance, and mental health support programs
