Job descriptionReq 1428385233

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you’ll build:

As an Associate Platform Engineer, you will contribute to platform development and operations with guidance and mentorship. Your responsibilities include:

  • Build and automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management for Big Data platform components
  • Implement cloud‑agnostic platform features across hyperscalers (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Alibaba Cloud, and SAP Cloud infrastructure)
  • Support enhancements to Kubernetes‑based runtimes, including optimization and basic automation
  • Leverage AI capabilities in your daily work.
  • Contribute to platform reliability by learning and applying foundational site reliability engineering practices (SRE) concepts (monitoring, alerting, incident handling)
  • Participate in team on‑call duties outside working hours after sufficient onboarding and training

What you bring:

You may be a great fit for this early‑career role if you bring some of the following. We encourage

applications even if you don’t meet every listed point:

  • Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (internships, personal projects, open‑source work)
  • 0–2 years of professional experience in software, cloud engineering, DevOps, or related areas
  • Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts
  • Practical experience with use of coding agents in planning, implementation, test generation, review, deployment and operations while retaining engineering accountability and measurable guardrails.
  • Prior internships or hands‑on projects involving cloud services, automation, or distributed systems are a plus
  • Introductory knowledge of containers (Docker), Linux, or distributed systems
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python or Go
  • Interest in learning Kubernetes, cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Azure, GCP), and automation tooling
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative attitude, willingness to ask questions, and openness to feedback
  • Clear communication skills in English, both written and verbal

Where you belong:

You will join the engineering team operating SAP BTP’s Big Data services — Kafka, Cassandra, Spark — across multi‑cloud environments. We work in an agile, collaborative environment where continuous learning and blameless problem-solving are part of our culture. Our team values open communication, knowledge sharing, and supporting each other's growth. You will have the opportunity to work on strategically important initiatives that shape how SAP builds and operates at scale, with exposure to cloud-native technologies and enterprise architecture patterns.

What applying to SAP usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through successfactors typically begin by submitting an online profile and resume through SAP's careers portal, which commonly integrates with successfactors for application tracking and status updates. Applicants may receive automated confirmation emails and periodic status changes visible within the candidate portal. The process can generally include an initial recruiter screening, followed by hiring manager conversations and may include multiple stages such as technical or role-specific assessments depending on the position. Some roles may involve panel discussions or skills evaluations. Communication is often handled through the platform itself, though candidates may also be contacted by phone or email. Response times vary, and candidates are encouraged to monitor their application dashboard and email regularly. Preparing role-relevant examples and reviewing the job description closely is generally advisable.”
