Job description

Build something monumental for Healthcare!

At Tandem Health we’re reimagining healthcare by putting clinicians first. Our platform - designed by clinicians, for clinicians - is built on deep insight into real-world pain points, with intuitive medical notes and workflows that truly support patient care.

We’re a fast-scaling health-tech company backed by top investors and expanding globally. We move fast, stay curious, and believe building something that matters starts with an extraordinary team. If you're passionate about impact and innovation, we'd love to meet you!

About the Role

You’re the kind of person who sees what needs to be built and then makes sure it actually happens. You’re an engineer at heart with a drive to lead. You thrive as a bridge between product direction and engineering execution. You operate by getting into the details, working with engineers, and pushing things forward until user value is shipped.

At Tandem, you’ll start out as a hands-on engineer in the team, getting to know the codebase, the product and the people. From there, you’ll step into leading a team of engineers, while staying hands-on. You’ll be responsible for technical direction, making decisions, and keeping momentum high. You’ll work closely with product - shaping how we build, and making sure the team consistently delivers at a high level.

You’re not just a manager, and not just a coder, you’re someone who can zoom in and contribute hands-on, and zoom out to guide the team forward. You’re comfortable making trade-offs, prioritizing ruthlessly, and keeping momentum in a fast-moving environment.

This is a role for someone with strong technical depth, enough product sense to be a real partner to product managers, and a genuine drive to lead a team toward meaningful outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of engineers to deliver high-impact product features.

  • Act as the technical lead for your area: own technical direction, architecture and quality, in close partnership with your product manager.

  • Work closely with engineers to define how things should be built, balancing speed, quality, and scalability.

  • Stay hands-on, spending around half your time in the code, helping unblock the team and move things forward.

  • Drive prioritization, planning, and day-to-day execution together with product, ensuring the team maintains high velocity and clarity.

  • Coach and support team members, helping them grow while maintaining high standards.

  • Continuously improve how the team works - processes, communication, and ownership.

What You Bring

  • A strong engineering background: you’ve built and shipped production software and you’re comfortable going deep in the code.

  • Experience leading or coordinating teams, even if not in a formal manager role (e.g. as a tech lead or senior engineer who took on more responsibility).

  • Good product sense: you understand what we’re building and why, and can work as an equal partner to product managers. You don’t need to be a product expert.

  • Ability to drive execution across multiple workstreams and keep things moving.

  • A high level of ownership and drive - you naturally take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to align people around a common direction.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in healthtech.

  • Experience working in high-velocity scale up environments where priorities shift quickly.

  • Experience building or working on 0→1 products or early-stage features.

  • Experience working in teams where product ownership is shared between engineering and product.

What applying to Tandem Health usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through Ashby can generally expect a structured online application process beginning with a form requesting resume, background details, and sometimes brief written responses. Ashby-based processes commonly include an initial screening conversation, followed by stages that may involve recruiter calls, hiring manager discussions, and role-specific assessments or technical exercises depending on the position. Response times vary and are not guaranteed by the platform itself, as scheduling and communication are managed by the hiring company, in this case Tandem Health. Applicants may be able to track application status through an Ashby-hosted candidate portal. Overall, the experience tends to be streamlined and digital, though the exact number of stages, evaluation criteria, and turnaround times depend on the specific role and internal practices rather than the ATS itself.
