The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 12 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, Texas A&M – Fort Worth and the Texas A&M - RELLIS Campus. Job Description Summary:

The Animal Welfare, Project Manager is responsible for managing and directing projects and programs aimed at research animal welfare and research excellence, contributing to an overall strategic research infrastructure Develop and deliver training content on animal welfare and related research concepts including, but not limited to, the 3Rs, advanced human-relevant technologies, and novel alternative methodologies (NAMs) and proactively network across members and the broader research community to build awareness of research animal welfare and assisting members with establishing standard operating procedures and other activities that enhance research animal welfare.


Responsibilities:
- Manage and direct projects and programs aimed at research animal welfare and research excellence, contributing to an overall strategic research infrastructure.

- Develop and deliver training content on animal welfare and related research concepts including, but not limited to, the 3Rs, advanced human-relevant technologies, and novel alternative methodologies (NAMs ).

- Proactively network across members and the broader research community to build awareness of research animal welfare; Assist members with establishing standard operating procedures and other activities that enhance research animal welfare.

- Consult with researchers on the 3Rs, human-relevant model systems, and novel alternative methodologies, providing support for investigator grants.

- Support member accreditation with AAALAC, International.

- Conduct related research, seeking state, federal, and other funding opportunities to advance research animal welfare.

- Promote the work by the Texas A&M University System members in the area of animal research and novel alternative methodologies.

- Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:
- Doctor level degree in animal welfare or a related field.
- Three years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Demonstrated activity in animal welfare through training, teaching, and/or publications.

- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory/accreditation expectations, data analysis, and experimental design.

- Strong organizational and analytical skills.

- Expertise in animal research oversight requirements.

- Ability to travel.

- Ability to multi-task and cooperatively support others.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Certification in an animal welfare related field
- Prior grant funding for research
- Knowledge of advanced human-relevant technologies and/or novel alternative methodologies
