UserGems is the AI Command Center for outbound and ABM. Think of us as the ‘brain’ behind your go-to-market. We capture account & contact data and buying signals to help companies know who to target, when, and why. Then, take the next actions via humans or AI agents to run personalized outbound and ABM at scale.

UserGems has generated billions in pipeline and revenue for hundreds of start-ups and public companies. Companies like Hubspot, Workday, Crowdstrike, Mimecast, UserTesting, SAP, Outreach see more than 15X ROI in closed-won revenue from UserGems.

Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (php/laravel, typescript/vue)

Build scalable systems that power AI-driven sales intelligence

UserGems is an AI platform helping sales and marketing teams double their pipeline impact with the same resources. Our AI agent, Gem-E, identifies who to target, when, and why - turning signals from CRMs, buying intent, and public data into precise and timely outreach that drives revenue.

We’re building an AI-powered signal platform that automates repetitive sales and marketing tasks and connects insights across all customer-facing systems.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer who combines strong engineering fundamentals with a practical mindset. You’ll join our web application team with heavy backend processing job focus. Your work will also involve frontend work to build the customer facing UI, but is typically backend (php/laravel) dominant.

UserGems is a ~60-person company with around half of them working in engineering in Europe and Brazil and the other half  in sales and marketing based in the U.S. You’ll be part of a technically strong, fast-moving engineering group that collaborates closely with our go-to-market teams in the U.S.

We’re in a phase where speed and iteration matter most - we move fast, ship often, and improve continuously.

You’ll join one of our 3 webapp teams and take ownership of entire components within the first few months of starting at UserGems. The role offers a high degree of autonomy within a collaborative, high-trust environment. You’ll work closely with teammates across Europe and Brazil and frequently with our marketing and sales teams in the U.S., so you should be comfortable working in English and collaborating asynchronously across time zones.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Work comfortably with a high degree of independence and ownership.
  • Learn quickly and stay effective in a changing environment.
  • Approach complex technical problems with practical, solution-oriented thinking.
  • Value working in a dynamic company where impact matters more than process.
  • Are used to strongly leverage AI in your day to day development workflow

What You’ll Do:

  • Build user facing UIs in collaboration with a product manager and your teammates
  • Build scalable data heavy background processing jobs handling terabytes of data
  • Build new features with both humans and AI agents in mind (MCP).
  • Integrate and maintain connections with external data providers, ensuring data reliability, consistency, and quality across ingestion pipelines.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and make sound trade-off decisions
  • Design, build, and optimize relational database structures (mysql)
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists to optimize AI workflows and prompts
  • Debug, profile, and tune systems for reliability and performance at scale
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with an eye for long-term stability
  • Continuously improve workflows, deployment, and monitoring practices

Our Tech Stack (AWS)

  • Typescript/Vue SPA as the customer facing frontend
  • PHP with laravel for our backend and data processing jobs
  • MySQL & OpenSearch
  • RabbitMQ for microservice communication
  • Datadog for logs and performance monitoring
  • GitHub + Linear for development process

What We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience as a PHP developer (preferably with laravel)
  • 2+ years of experience as a frontend or full stack developer (typescript)
  • You take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks
  • You bring full-time focus and accountability - we’re a small team, and everyone’s contribution matter
  • You’re reliable, consistent, and communicate openly when priorities or availability change
  • Expertise in relational database modeling, query optimization, and high-performance tuning
  • Experience working in a startup or fast-moving environment
  • Ability to work independently and self-organize
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken (preferable with prior work experience with English as the main working language)
  • Curious mindset and willingness to explore unfamiliar systems
  • Pragmatic: you balance technical purity with delivery speed

How We Work

We’re a lean, high-impact team where everyone owns their work end-to-end and delivers with full commitment. Freedom comes with responsibility - we trust people to manage their own time, but we expect steady engagement, reliability, and proactive communication.

This is a full-time remote role - consistency and accountability are what keep our remote team effective.

Working on this team you will have:

  • Impact and ownership: You’ll ship code that directly affects revenue and product direction
  • Modern tech stack, strong peers: Work alongside experienced engineers in a team that values autonomy and quality.
  • Remote-first across Europe and Brazil: Flexible work setup and async-friendly culture.
  • High trust culture
  • Competitive compensation and growth opportunities

Compensation information- target range for the role is $80,000 - $100,000 annually. Final compensation package will be determined based on commensurate experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to perform in the role.

Why you should join:

  • You’ll be part of a fast-growing startup as it scales from 70 to hundreds of employees
  • Customers love us! (see our Customers & Hall of Gems pages)
  • Employees love working here (see Repvue & Glassdoor reviews) and stay a long time. Median tenure for Director+ is 5 years and median tenure for all employees is 3+ years.
  • We just had our best quarter ever (by >2X) and signed our first 7 digit contract.
  • We will be cash-flow positive by the end of the year and can create our own destiny.
  • We're a remote-first company with employees across the Americas and Europe
  • We have company & department-wide in-person off-sites around the world so that everyone stays connected
  • We believe strongly in being customer-focused and data-driven in everything we do
  • We value individual differences in the workforce and strive to make everyone feel welcomed and accepted, regardless of their skin color, gender or sexual orientation
  • Health benefits & competitive salary
