Job description

About Voltai
Voltai is developing models and agents that learn, evaluate, plan, experiment, and interact with the physical world. We are starting out with understanding and building hardware: electronics systems and semiconductors where AI can design beyond human cognitive limits.

About the Team

Backed by Silicon Valley’s top investors as well as Stanford University and CEOs/Presidents of Google, AMD, Broadcom, Marvell, etc. We are a team of previous Stanford professors, SAIL researchers, Olympiad medalists (IPhO, IOI, etc.), CTOs of Synopsys & GlobalFoundries, Head of Sales & CRO of Cadence, former US Secretary of Defense, National Security Advisor, and Senior Foreign-Policy Advisor to four US presidents.

About this Role
Voltai Inc. is seeking a Strategic Projects Lead in Menlo Park, California to drive end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional technical programs (spanning AI/ML, data operations, engineering, and product evaluation) by aligning stakeholders, managing scope/resources, and removing bottlenecks. You will also build and continuously improve scalable workflows, documentation/QA/compliance standards, and data pipelines while coordinating distributed teams and specialized contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex, cross-functional projects in technical domains such as data operations, AI/ML model development, engineering design, and product evaluation.

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of workflows and systems for large, distributed teams comprising engineers, analysts, contractors, and technical specialists.

  • Develop and enforce industry-standard practices for project documentation, quality assurance, and compliance across multiple technical programs.

  • Collaborate with engineering, business development, and product teams to define requirements, manage project scope, prioritize initiatives, and resolve bottlenecks for strategic business objectives.

  • Manage project tracking, resource allocation, and milestone delivery using project management platforms (such as Jira, Notion, Linear, or similar).

  • Recruit, onboard, and coordinate specialized contractors and subject matter experts for diverse technical projects, including but not limited to data collection, annotation, engineering analysis, or hardware evaluation.

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement strategies for sourcing and processing technical and engineering data for use in AI/ML training.

  • Develop, document, and refine scalable data pipelines and automated processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and enabling rapid adaptation to changing technical requirements.

Requirements

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field, and four years of experience in the job offered, or in an engineering-related occupation.

Position requires experience in the following:

  • 2 years of experience working with multi-disciplinary technical teams in one or more of the following domains: AI/ML, engineering design, data operations, product development, or technical program management.

  • 2 years of experience designing, implementing, and improving operational processes, quality assurance protocols, or documentation standards in technical environments.

  • 2 years of experience working in industries related to hardware manufacturing, design engineering, semiconductor development or similar with a demonstrated understanding of end-to-end hardware design methodologies.

  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in process improvement and analytical problem solving.

  • 1 year of experience managing complex projects using advanced project management platforms (Jira, Notion, Linear, or similar) with responsibility for workflow optimization and resource allocation.

  • 1 year of experience in coordinating projects and translating data into strategic business insights.
