Overview
The Office of Strategic Analysis is Yale’s internal management consultancy and works on some of the most complex strategic opportunities and challenges facing Yale. The team provides guidance and analysis that enables University leaders (president, provost, deans, VPs) to make decisions that best advance Yale’s mission. The team works across all areas of the University’s mission.
The Strategic Analysis team is led by the Director, Strategic Analysis, and reports to the Senior Associate Provost for Strategy and Data Analysis. The team consists of the Director, the Associate Director, and six Swensen Fellows. The Swensen Fellowship is a 2-year consulting analyst program in the Office of Strategic Analysis, staffed by graduates of both Yale College and graduate programs at Yale.
Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director will serve as a member of the Strategic Analysis leadership team and will be expected to work as a close partner to the Director in managing the team’s portfolio of projects. The Associate Director will manage the first-year Swensen Fellows, holding accountability for outstanding project results and stewarding the first-year Swensen Fellows’ professional development and growth. The Associate Director will also directly support their own projects from time to time, typically those that are more complex or fast-moving, as an individual contributor. The Director will provide regular feedback to the Associate Director on their portfolio of projects and support the Associate Director’s professional development.
Success in the Associate Director role will be measured with respect to two primary outcomes: project results that advance Yale’s mission and development of first-year Swensen Fellows into exceptional consultants capable of themselves driving results. The Associate Director will bring a strong analytical and problem-solving skillset to a broad range of client needs, an aptitude for client relationship-building and driving project outcomes, and a proven ability to mentor and inflect the professional development of others.
The Strategic Analysis team works collaboratively in a primarily in-person environment on Yale’s campus in New Haven, CT (a minimum of four days per week in-person is expected for this role).
