Overview
Yale University’s Office of Public Affairs and Communications (OPAC) seeks a creative, curious, and audience-focused multimedia content producer to help engage broad audiences in the inspiring work, culture, and ambitions of Yale and its people. As media technologies and habits evolve, audiences increasingly expect compelling video, audio, graphics, and other storytelling forms designed for the platforms and environments where they already spend their time. This position will help OPAC meet audiences wherever they choose to encounter, engage with, and experience Yale’s content.
Reporting to the chief communications officer for social media, the multimedia content producer will help advance both editorial and marketing initiatives, playing an important role in 1) the development and production of a new OPAC multimedia initiative featuring original video and podcast programming and 2) developing original content and formats for a range of digital, social, and marketing communications needs.
Working with the multimedia initiative’s co-leads and with colleagues across OPAC, the producer will contribute to new programs and episodes, help identify compelling subjects and creative approaches, and develop related content that extends the reach and value of the programming across platforms. Marketing projects would serve a wide variety of university priorities and will likely include short-form and vertical video, multimedia explainers, social-first storytelling, original recurring series, adaptations of longer-form programming for different audiences and platforms, still and dynamic graphics supporting university campaigns and priorities, and experimentation with emerging formats and tools.
The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative communications team with expertise across news editorial, social media, photography, video, design, media relations, marketing communications, and other disciplines. The successful candidate will develop and pitch ideas and take ownership of projects approved by their manager and OPAC leadership.
The multimedia content producer will combine strong editorial instincts and professional production skills with an understanding of digital audiences and platform-native storytelling. The producer will contribute substantially to the new multimedia initiative while helping OPAC create engaging, audience-focused content for a variety of communications needs and exploring new approaches to digital storytelling.
