Job description

ABA Rank operates an independent, transparent index of Applied Behavior Analysis software providers, service vendors, and clinics, ranking them nightly on disclosed inputs such as qualified reviews, profile completeness, verification recency, listing tier, and category fit. We're hiring an AI Engineer to help build and improve the intelligent systems behind our matching, search, and ranking tools — helping ABA clinics, buyers, and coaches find the right vendor faster and with more confidence.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and deploy machine learning and AI-driven features that power vendor matching, search relevance, and recommendation flows on the platform
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines that feed model training and evaluation from our directory and review data
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate matching and ranking requirements into shippable AI features
  • Evaluate, fine-tune, or integrate large language models and other ML approaches where they improve user-facing search and matching
  • Monitor model performance in production, iterating on accuracy, latency, and reliability
  • Write clear documentation of model behavior, data assumptions, and system design for internal stakeholders

What we're looking for

  • Professional experience building and shipping machine learning or AI-powered features in production systems
  • Strong programming skills in Python (or a comparable language) and familiarity with common ML/AI frameworks
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data, including search, ranking, or recommendation systems
  • Solid understanding of model evaluation, testing, and monitoring practices
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with product and engineering teams in a fast-moving environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Experience with large language models, embeddings, or retrieval-augmented systems
  • Background in marketplace, directory, or search/ranking products
  • Familiarity with healthcare, behavioral health, or verification-heavy data environments
