We are seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Outside Sales Representative with a strong hunter mentality and a passion for developing new business. This role is ideal for sales professionals who enjoy prospecting, building relationships, identifying opportunities, and managing the entire sales process from initial contact through project completion.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a profitable portfolio of customers within the construction, remodeling, property management, design, commercial, and residential markets. The position requires a proactive approach to generating new business, managing client relationships, conducting site visits, preparing estimates and proposals, negotiating contracts, and closing sales.

Key Responsibilities New Business Development Independently generate new business opportunities throughout Southeast Michigan. Prospect builders, contractors, developers, property managers, designers, commercial organizations, and homeowners. Conduct cold calling, canvassing, door-to-door outreach, job-site visits, and networking activities. Identify active construction, renovation, and property improvement projects. Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified sales opportunities. Convert new relationships into long-term accounts and recurring revenue. Account Management & Relationship Development Manage both assigned and self-generated customer accounts. Develop trusted relationships with key decision-makers. Maintain ongoing contact with customers to generate repeat business and referrals. Monitor upcoming projects and identify future sales opportunities. Serve as the primary sales contact for assigned accounts. Full-Cycle Sales Management Manage opportunities from prospecting through closing and project completion. Conduct discovery meetings to assess customer needs. Recommend products and project solutions. Prepare pricing, proposals, and estimates. Present solutions and negotiate agreements. Close residential, commercial, builder, and contractor opportunities. Maintain accurate CRM notes, pipeline activity, and follow-up schedules. Track sold projects through scheduling, installation, and final handoff. Estimating & Technical Support Review plans, measurements, specifications, and scopes of work. Prepare accurate project estimates and proposals. Calculate material quantities, labor requirements, and project costs. Identify factors that may impact pricing, schedule, or installation requirements. Collaborate with internal teams on large or complex projects. Product Consultation Develop expertise in hard-surface and soft-surface flooring products. Educate customers on product features, performance, maintenance, and installation considerations. Recommend products based on budget, design preferences, durability requirements, and project needs. Stay current on industry products and market trends. Showroom & Residential Sales Assist walk-in showroom customers. Conduct product consultations and needs assessments. Generate residential and retail sales opportunities. Schedule measurements, appointments, and follow-up visits. Convert referrals and showroom traffic into completed sales. Networking & Community Engagement Represent the company at industry and community events. Participate in builder associations, chamber of commerce meetings, trade events, golf outings, and networking activities. Build relationships that increase visibility and generate referrals. Serve as a professional ambassador for the organization. Required Qualifications Must-Have Requirements Previous experience in outside sales, business development, construction sales, home services sales, canvassing, or a related customer acquisition role. Demonstrated success generating new business independently. Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Confidence approaching business owners, contractors, and decision-makers. Ability to manage the full sales cycle and close business. Strong follow-up habits and pipeline management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Valid driver's license. Reliable personal vehicle. Ability to travel throughout Southeast Michigan. Comfortable working in office, showroom, field, and job-site environments. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Professional appearance and customer-facing presence. Resilience and persistence in long sales-cycle environments. Preferred Qualifications Flooring sales experience. Construction, building materials, home improvement, interior design, or property management sales experience. Flooring or construction estimating experience. Ability to interpret plans, measurements, specifications, and scopes of work. Experience selling hard-surface flooring products, including: Hardwood Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) Tile Laminate Knowledge of carpet and soft-surface flooring products. Existing relationships with builders, contractors, developers, designers, or property managers. Experience managing both B2B and residential sales.
