Elite Hockey HQ is looking for an AI Engineer to help build and improve the intelligent systems behind our training platform, including features like the AI Coaching Assistant and the Adaptive Training Engine that personalizes workouts based on athlete readiness signals. You'll work closely with product and engineering teams to design, ship, and refine AI-powered capabilities that help hockey athletes train smarter across their season.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and deploy machine learning and AI models that power personalized training and coaching features
- Develop and maintain data pipelines to process athlete inputs such as readiness, workload, and biometric signals
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate training and recovery logic into scalable AI-driven features
- Evaluate and integrate third-party AI models and APIs (e.g., LLMs) where appropriate
- Monitor model performance in production and iterate based on data and user feedback
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and contribute to engineering best practices
What we're looking for
- Professional experience building and deploying machine learning or AI systems in production
- Strong programming skills in Python or a similar language commonly used in ML engineering
- Familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn
- Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including version control, testing, and code review
- Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly with cross-functional teammates
Nice to have
- Experience with large language models or building AI assistants/chatbots
- Background working with wearable or biometric data (e.g., HRV, sleep, workload tracking)
- Interest in sports, fitness, or athletic performance technology
