Habeo is the IT asset management and CMDB platform built specifically for higher education, replacing ServiceNow ITAM with a system designed around university workflows like GASB depreciation, grant compliance, and Workday-driven lifecycle management. We're looking for a Technical Writer to own the documentation that helps IT asset managers, controllers, grant administrators, and university IT teams get the most out of Habeo — from onboarding guides to release notes to compliance-facing documentation.
What you'll do
- Write and maintain user-facing documentation, including setup guides, feature walkthroughs, and troubleshooting articles for Habeo's asset ledger, CMDB, and integrations
- Translate technical and compliance concepts (such as GASB depreciation rules, grant property requirements, and MDM/HRIS integrations) into clear, accurate documentation for non-technical audiences
- Partner with product and engineering to document new features ahead of release, keeping docs in sync with the product
- Maintain and improve information architecture across the documentation site so customers can self-serve answers
- Produce internal-facing technical content such as API documentation, integration guides, and release notes
- Support the creation of customer-facing compliance and security documentation, working with the team responsible for artifacts like HECVAT responses
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of experience as a technical writer, preferably for a B2B SaaS or enterprise software product
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical or compliance-related concepts in plain language
- Experience working directly with engineers and product managers to document features from spec through release
- Strong editing skills and a portfolio of writing samples (help center articles, API docs, release notes, or similar)
- Comfortable learning unfamiliar domains quickly, including regulatory or compliance frameworks
- Experience with documentation tooling (e.g., static site generators, headless CMS, or dedicated docs platforms)
Nice to have
- Experience writing documentation for IT, asset management, or compliance-heavy software
- Familiarity with higher education administrative systems or terminology
- Experience documenting integrations with systems like Workday, Jamf, or Intune
