LandEarly is looking for a Chrome Extension Engineer to build and grow the free LandEarly browser extension for Chrome and Edge, which turns every new tab into a live feed of fresh job postings and decodes job listings into plain-language summaries for users. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on shipping a fast, reliable, and secure extension used by job seekers every day.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain the LandEarly Chrome/Edge extension, including the new-tab experience and posting decoder features
- Implement content scripts and background/service worker logic to detect, parse, and surface job postings from third-party sites
- Work closely with backend and product teams to sync extension data with the LandEarly web and mobile apps
- Optimize extension performance, load time, and memory usage across high-frequency new-tab usage
- Handle authentication and secure data flows between the extension, sign-in state, and user accounts
- Monitor and maintain compatibility with Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons policies and review processes
What we're looking for
- Professional experience building and shipping browser extensions, ideally for Chrome and/or Edge
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills, with solid understanding of Manifest V3, content scripts, background/service workers, and browser extension APIs
- Experience with DOM parsing and scraping techniques for extracting structured data from varied web pages
- Familiarity with extension security best practices, including permissions scoping, CSP, and secure messaging between extension contexts
- Comfort working with REST/GraphQL APIs to sync extension state with backend services
- Ability to debug cross-browser quirks and maintain compatibility across Chrome and Edge releases
Nice to have
- Experience publishing and maintaining extensions through the Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons store
- Familiarity with building companion mobile or web apps that sync in real time with a browser extension
- Background in job search, recruiting, or productivity tools
