Job description

Mayflower is a technology company building large-scale entertainment products for a global audience. Our platforms serve millions of users worldwide and rank among the top-50 most visited websites globally. For more than 10 years, we've been creating reliable, high-performance solutions at the intersection of product, engineering, and entertainment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Managers and Engineers throughout product discovery, from identifying problems and opportunities to defining and validating solutions.

  • Translate user feedback, business goals, product requirements, and technical constraints into thoughtful product improvements.

  • Own the end-to-end design process — from early ideas, user flows, and wireframes to prototypes, high-fidelity UI, implementation, and post-launch iteration.

  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions and measure the success of shipped features.

  • Design thoughtful, intuitive experiences that solve real user problems and create business value.

  • Work closely with engineers during implementation, provide clear design guidance, and ensure the final product meets the intended quality.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and other team members to find optimal solutions.

  • Work collaboratively with other Product Designers to maintain consistency, contribute to the design system, and improve the product holistically.

  • Understand customers, their needs, and behaviors through research, market analysis, product data, and feedback.

Important/challenging tasks

  • Turn ambiguous product problems into clear user flows, concepts, prototypes, and testable solutions.

  • Validate design ideas through usability testing, user feedback, product data, and experimentation.

  • Conduct user research to understand user needs, motivations, behaviors, and pain points.

  • Balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints when making design decisions.

  • Design complex flows across different user states, platforms, screen sizes, and edge cases.

  • Create detailed design specifications and work closely with Engineers throughout implementation.

  • Iterate on shipped experiences based on qualitative and quantitative insights.

  • Communicate design rationale clearly to stakeholders and build alignment around proposed solutions.

  • Participate in design critiques and provide constructive feedback to other Product Designers.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple design initiatives while maintaining a high level of quality.

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer working on web-based products.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work, particularly for web products; mobile and desktop experience is a plus.

  • Strong user-centered and product thinking, with the ability to connect user needs with business goals.

  • Experience working in cross-functional product teams with Product Managers and Engineers.

  • Ability to independently drive design work from an ambiguous problem to a shipped and validated solution.

  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative insights to inform and validate design decisions.

  • Strong interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, and visual design skills.

  • Strong Figma skills and experience working with component-based design systems.

  • Good understanding of front-end development principles and ability to collaborate effectively with engineers.

  • Ability to think through complex user flows, responsive behavior, different user states, and edge cases.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly explain and defend design decisions.

  • English at B1/B2 level or higher, sufficient for day-to-day collaboration and presenting design decisions.

It will be a plus

  • Experience working on complex, high-traffic B2C products.

  • Experience with product analytics, experimentation, and data-informed design.

  • Experience contributing to design systems and maintaining design documentation.

  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate product design workflows.

What applying to Mayflower usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through recruitee for roles at Mayflower can generally expect an online application involving a resume submission and possibly some screening questions or a short form. Recruitee is commonly used by companies to manage candidate pipelines, so applicants may receive automated confirmation emails and status updates as they move through stages. The process may include multiple stages such as an initial recruiter or HR screen, followed by hiring manager conversations, and potentially skills-based or take-home assessments depending on the role type, such as technical, design, or analytical positions. Communication style and response times vary by employer, even within the same ATS, so candidates should not assume a fixed timeline. It is typically advisable to prepare a clear, tailored application and follow up politely if no update is received after a reasonable period.”
