Salary: $58,000 Annually

SUMMARY:

The Business Technical Analyst serves as a bridge between Enrollment Management & Student Affairs, Information Technology, and campus partners to analyze business needs, improve processes, and implement technology solutions that support student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, engagement, and success. The position translates business requirements into functional and technical solutions and supports enterprise systems, data, reporting, integrations, automation, testing, and system implementations. The analyst works closely with functional teams, IT, vendors, and leadership to ensure technology and data solutions effectively support institutional goals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze business processes, workflows, and system functionality to identify opportunities for improvement, automation, and increased efficiency.
  • Gather, document, and translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
  • Support the implementation, configuration, enhancement, and optimization of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs systems, including CRM, SIS, admissions, engagement, and student success platforms.
  • Analyze and validate data across systems; identify data quality issues and support data reconciliation, mapping, migration, and governance efforts.
  • Develop and maintain reporting requirements, dashboards, business rules, data definitions, and analytical solutions.
  • Support system integrations, APIs, data feeds, and automated processes in partnership with IT and vendors.
  • Develop test plans and user acceptance testing for new functionality and system changes.
  • Participate in technology implementations, process improvement initiatives, system upgrades, and vendor projects.
  • Create process documentation, workflow diagrams, standard operating procedures, and user documentation.
  • Provide technical and analytical support to Enrollment Management & Student Affairs leadership and functional teams.
  • Communicate complex technical and data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related STEM field.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills:  Four months of experience in a technical analyst, data analyst, or programmer/DBA role. Experience working in higher education or with systems such as Banner, Element451, Salesforce is preferred. Proficient in SQL and data analysis with demonstrated experience supporting large, relational database systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to: Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a business technical analyst, data analyst, or programmer/DBA role.
  • Programming/Querying: SQL, PL/SQL, Apex, R, Python or similar
  • Database: Oracle, Banner SIS
  • Reporting: WebFocus, Salesforce, Element451 Segments
  • CRM/Platform: Element451
  • ETL/Integration: Constituo, UC4, SFTP & API integrations
  • Other Tools: Microsoft Excel (Advanced), Power BI (preferred), Tableau, Git (optional)

WORK LOCATION:

This is primarily an on-site position at Commerce, TX. Occasional remote work may be permitted with prior supervisor approval and in accordance with state and university policies.

SPONSORSHIP:

This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE COMPETENCY:

Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
