Job descriptionContract

Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for MENA-region languages, and is looking for a Korean Translator to support legal and civil document translation work. This role will translate and review legal documents from Korean into English (and potentially English into Korean), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with certification standards required by USCIS, US courts, and other institutional recipients.

What you'll do

  • Translate legal and civil documents (court records, contracts, affidavits, marriage and family records, and similar materials) between Korean and English
  • Review and edit machine-generated draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and fidelity to the source document
  • Apply correct transliteration conventions for names, dates, and official terminology per client filing requirements
  • Sign and stand behind certification statements attesting to translation accuracy for each completed document
  • Preserve original document formatting and layout in the certified deliverable
  • Communicate with reviewers or project coordinators to resolve ambiguous terms or unclear source text

What we're looking for

  • Native or near-native fluency in Korean and strong professional fluency in English
  • Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or official documents
  • Familiarity with Korean legal and civil document conventions (family registers, court documents, contracts)
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working against defined turnaround deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and meet accuracy standards without close supervision
  • Comfort reviewing and editing AI-generated draft translations rather than translating fully from scratch

Nice to have

  • Prior experience with USCIS-certified or court-certified translation work
  • Background in legal studies, paralegal work, or certified translation credentials
  • Experience translating for immigration, family law, or court-related use cases
