Job descriptionContract

Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, and other MENA-region languages, with every translation reviewed by a native speaker before release. We're looking for a Legal Arabic Translator to review, edit, and certify Arabic-to-English translations of civil and legal documents — birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, police clearances, and similar filings — ensuring they meet the accuracy and certification standards required by USCIS, US courts, and other institutions.

What you'll do

  • Review and edit machine-generated first-draft translations of Arabic-language legal and civil documents for accuracy, completeness, and tone
  • Sign certification statements attesting that translations are true, complete, and accurate reproductions of the source document
  • Apply correct transliteration conventions for names, dates, and proper nouns, including alignment with client-specified spellings (e.g., I-130 filings)
  • Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified translation
  • Handle documents spanning Egyptian, Saudi, Levantine, Maghrebi, Iraqi, and Gulf Arabic dialects, as well as standard Modern Standard Arabic for official documents
  • Meet turnaround commitments ranging from 14-hour rush to 48-hour standard delivery windows

What we're looking for

  • Native or near-native fluency in Arabic and English, with professional-level legal and civil document translation experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic and at least one regional dialect
  • Familiarity with civil registry documents, court records, and immigration-related paperwork (e.g., birth certificates, marriage records, police clearances)
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
  • Ability to work independently against tight, defined deadlines
  • Comfort reviewing and correcting machine-generated translation drafts rather than translating fully from scratch

Nice to have

  • Prior experience providing translations for USCIS or other US immigration filings
  • Familiarity with 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) certification requirements
  • Experience with Farsi, Dari, Pashto, or Urdu as an additional working language
  • Background working with immigration law firms or similar high-volume legal document environments
