Wanderlust is a travel planning app that drafts trips from real city and cost data, runs them offline on the ground through Trip Mode, and lets travelers share and discover trips in a public feed. We're looking for a Lifecycle / Email Marketing Manager to own the messaging that guides users from their first itinerary to becoming long-term, engaged travelers — and, ultimately, Pro subscribers.
You'll build and manage lifecycle programs across email and other owned channels, working closely with product, growth, and design to turn user behavior into timely, relevant messaging.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and optimize lifecycle email campaigns across onboarding, activation, engagement, win-back, and upgrade (free-to-Pro) flows
- Own the lifecycle marketing calendar and segmentation strategy, using in-app behavior (itineraries created, trips taken, features used) to trigger relevant messages
- Partner with product and engineering to instrument the events and data needed for personalized, behavior-based campaigns
- Run A/B tests on subject lines, send times, content, and flows, and report on results against open, click, conversion, and retention metrics
- Maintain email deliverability, list hygiene, and compliance with email marketing regulations
- Collaborate with design and content to keep messaging on-brand and aligned with the product's voice
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of experience in lifecycle, retention, or email marketing, ideally at a consumer app or subscription product
- Hands-on experience with an ESP or marketing automation platform (e.g., Braze, Iterable, Customer.io, or similar)
- Strong grasp of segmentation, triggered campaigns, and funnel/retention metrics
- Comfort working with data — pulling reports, interpreting cohort and funnel data, and translating insights into campaign changes
- Excellent written communication and an eye for clear, concise, well-tested copy
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with product, design, and growth teams
Nice to have
- Experience with subscription or freemium-to-paid conversion flows
- Familiarity with push notification or in-app messaging strategy alongside email
- Background in travel, consumer, or mobile-first products
