Wanderlust is a travel planning app that helps people plan trips with AI grounded in real city and cost data, live those trips offline on the ground with Trip Mode, and share them with a community of travelers in /explore. We're looking for a Mobile Engineer to help build and grow the React Native app that powers this experience across iOS and Android.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and ship features in our React Native app used by travelers to plan, live, and share their trips
- Work closely with product and design to translate itinerary, map, and offline-experience concepts into polished mobile UI
- Build and maintain offline-first functionality so core features work reliably without a signal
- Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs for itinerary generation, trip data, and collaboration features
- Improve app performance, stability, and startup time across a range of devices
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code and participate in code review
What we're looking for
- Professional experience building and shipping production React Native applications
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals and familiarity with the React ecosystem
- Experience with mobile app architecture, including navigation, state management, and offline data caching
- Comfort working with native iOS/Android modules or bridging native code when needed
- Experience integrating with REST or GraphQL APIs and handling asynchronous data flows
- Solid understanding of mobile performance profiling and debugging
Nice to have
- Experience building offline-first or location-aware mobile features
- Familiarity with map SDKs (Apple Maps, Google Maps) and native deep linking
- Experience with browser extensions or cross-platform tooling
- Background working at a consumer-facing travel, lifestyle, or social app
