Web Design Awards runs an editorially-curated awards program for web design work, judged year-round by a named jury of working designers against a published rubric. We're looking for a Content Writer to help produce clear, engaging copy across our editorial coverage — including winner write-ups, teardowns, rankings, and related site content that's read by tens of thousands of designers, agencies, and buyers each month.
What you'll do
- Write and edit copy for winner announcements, Site of the Month/Year features, and category rankings (e.g., Top 100 Websites, Top Web Design Agencies)
- Produce weekly editorial content breaking down why a winning site scored well, in line with the published judging rubric
- Draft and maintain evergreen pages such as glossary entries, explainer content, and how-judging-works guides
- Write newsletter copy and subscriber-facing content to support the weekly roundup
- Collaborate with the judging and editorial team to ensure accuracy of scores, rubric references, and studio/agency details
- Edit and proofread submitted studio and agency profiles for clarity and consistency of voice
What we're looking for
- Proven experience writing and editing web content, ideally in a publication, marketing, or editorial role
- Strong command of clear, concise, engaging writing with careful attention to grammar and style consistency
- Ability to translate technical or evaluative criteria (like a scoring rubric) into readable, compelling copy
- Comfort working with editorial calendars and meeting regular publishing deadlines
- A portfolio or writing samples demonstrating range across formats (short-form news, longer features, newsletter copy)
Nice to have
- Familiarity with web design, UX, or the design agency landscape
- Experience writing SEO-conscious copy for content that needs to rank
- Background in design criticism, tech journalism, or B2B content marketing
