Web Design Awards runs an editorially-curated awards program that recognizes the web's best design work, judged year-round by working designers against a published rubric. We're looking for an Editor to help shape the editorial voice behind our winner coverage, judging write-ups, and index content — making sure every award page, teardown, and roundup is clear, accurate, and worth reading for the designers, agencies, and buyers who follow the index.
What you'll do
- Write and edit copy for award pages, Site of the Month features, and winner announcements
- Review submissions and judge commentary for clarity, tone, and consistency with the published rubric
- Produce the weekly roundup of winners, scores, and teardowns for the newsletter and blog
- Edit contributed posts, judge interviews, and category write-ups for grammar, structure, and accuracy
- Maintain editorial standards and style guidelines across the site's award listings and archive
- Collaborate with the jury and internal team to fact-check scores, credits, and studio attributions before publishing
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as an editor, copy editor, or content editor, ideally in a publication, media, or online directory setting
- Excellent command of written English grammar, style, and tone
- Strong attention to detail, especially when handling factual claims, scores, and attributions
- Comfort working with CMS or publishing tools and managing an editorial calendar
- Ability to give clear, constructive feedback to writers and contributors
- Interest in design, digital agencies, or the web design industry
Nice to have
- Familiarity with SEO best practices for editorial content
- Experience editing content related to design, technology, or creative industries
- Background judging or evaluating creative work against a rubric or scoring system
