Web Design Awards runs an editorially-curated awards program that judges web design submissions year-round against a published, public rubric. Winning sites earn a permanent, Google-indexed award page, an embeddable badge, and placement in the directory that designers, agencies, and buyers browse when hiring — the site is read by roughly 84,000 people a month. We're hiring a Managing Editor to own the editorial voice and output of the awards program, from the winners' index to the blog and category rankings.
What you'll do
- Plan, assign, and edit weekly editorial content covering newly judged winners, Site of the Month features, and jury teardowns
- Maintain editorial consistency and quality across the winners' index, blog, and annual ranking pages (e.g. Top 100 Websites, Top Web Design Agencies)
- Work with the jury and judging team to translate rubric scores and decisions into clear, publishable write-ups
- Manage an editorial calendar and coordinate with contributors, freelance writers, or judges producing written content
- Proofread and fact-check all published copy, including award pages, badges, and certificate text, for accuracy and consistency
- Help shape and enforce editorial standards and style guidelines across the site
What we're looking for
- Prior experience as an editor, managing editor, or senior writer, ideally for a digital publication, media brand, or content-heavy website
- Strong command of written English, including grammar, tone, and structure, with the ability to edit others' work efficiently
- Experience managing an editorial calendar and coordinating multiple contributors or contractors
- Comfort working with data or scored/ranked content (e.g. translating rubric scores or rankings into readable copy)
- Ability to work independently and meet recurring publishing deadlines
- Familiarity with web design, UX, or the design/creative agency space
Nice to have
- Experience editing content related to design, technology, or creative industries
- Familiarity with SEO best practices for editorial content
- Experience working with CMS platforms for publishing and content management
