Web Design Awards runs an editorially-curated, year-round awards program for the web's best design work — judged by a named jury against a published rubric, with winners earning a permanent, Google-indexed award page and placement in a directory that buyers browse when hiring studios. We're looking for an SEO Content Writer to help grow organic visibility for the site, its index of winning work, and its editorial content, including the blog and rankings pages like the annual Top 100 lists.
What you'll do
- Research and write SEO-optimized articles, landing pages, and category/index pages that target relevant search terms
- Develop keyword strategies and content briefs in collaboration with editorial and marketing stakeholders
- Optimize existing pages (titles, meta descriptions, headers, internal linking) to improve organic rankings and click-through rates
- Write and edit copy for award pages, agency profiles, and blog posts covering judging results and design trends
- Monitor search performance using analytics and SEO tools, and adjust content strategy based on results
- Collaborate with design and editorial teams to ensure content is accurate, on-brand, and publish-ready
What we're looking for
- Proven experience writing SEO-focused content, ideally for a content-heavy or directory/marketplace-style website
- Strong command of on-page SEO fundamentals: keyword research, meta tags, internal linking, content structure
- Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone across formats (articles, rankings, award copy)
- Familiarity with SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, or similar
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple content pieces, and meet deadlines
- Comfort writing about design, technology, or creative industries
Nice to have
- Experience writing for or about the design, marketing, or creative agency space
- Basic understanding of technical SEO (site speed, structured data, crawlability)
- Experience with CMS platforms and light HTML editing
