Overview
Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the employee will assist with operational aspects of admissions process at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS). Responsibilities will include assisting with data integrations between Axiom, Slate, Banner and other campus systems, materials collection, Argos/Brio reporting, decision release, deferral processing, provide support to departmental registrars and faculty, assist with answering emails sent to admissions inboxes, and assist with other work related to GSAS admissions processing. This position will also work closely with various internal campus partners, including the Office of International Student Services (OISS) and University Registrar's Office (URO), and other internal constituents. The employee will be part of the Graduate Admissions team and may be called upon to assist with other aspects of graduate admissions seasonally during peak times. This position is part-time, approximately 20 hours per week or less, and remote/hybrid, with preference given to candidates in or near Connecticut.
Required Skills and Abilities
1: Banner, Brio, and Argos systems experience.
2: Slate admissions CRM power user; former Slate captain preferred.
3: Proven ability to work in a team and independently to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated positive attitude and commitment to working as a team. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with harmoniously with staff, students, faculty, visitors, University offices and external organizations.
4: Ability to manage projects, identify problems, engineer solutions, and set and adhere to timelines.
5: Proven ability to handle confidential information, including personal and financial information.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Prior experience working in a graduate school admissions office.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Works effectively with the process owners to document the scope, requirements, objectives and performance targets. 2. Elicits and writes requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely. 3. Decomposes business and user requirements into functional requirements. Defines quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements. 4. Represents requirements using alternative views, such as analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios. 5. Compares functional specifications to functionality in commercial off-the-shelf software to identify appropriate matches 6. Actively contributes in the testing and quality assurance process. Collaborates with developers and end-users to insure that application functionality meets client needs. 7. Contributes in requirements prioritization and solution risk analysis 8. Contributes to the communication planning/delivery and departmental readiness plan. Supports metrics integration and execution for optimal results. 9. Contributes to the development and delivery of training to end users. 10. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in business, technology or related field and a minimum of four years of experience in analysis of business needs and development of related business systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
