ABA Rank operates an independent, ranked directory of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) providers, clinics, and software and service vendors, built on a transparent scoring methodology and published for both human and AI readers. We're looking for a Technical Writer to help translate our ranking methodology, product features, and provider-facing documentation into content that is clear, accurate, and consistent across the site and our public-facing surfaces (including structured data, markdown feeds, and API documentation).
What you'll do
- Write and maintain clear documentation covering how the Index ranking methodology works, including scoring signals and how they're disclosed to users
- Produce and update help center and FAQ content for buyers and providers navigating the directory, claim process, and verification tiers
- Draft documentation for our public JSON API, MCP server, and other machine-readable formats (schema.org JSON-LD, llms.txt, OpenAPI docs)
- Collaborate with product and engineering to document new features, badges, and ranking criteria changes as they roll out
- Edit and standardize existing site copy, tooltips, and onboarding materials for clarity and consistency
- Work with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy of published methodology and provider-facing guidance
What we're looking for
- Prior experience as a technical writer, documentation specialist, or similar role
- Strong writing skills with the ability to explain technical or data-driven concepts in plain language
- Experience documenting APIs, structured data, or developer-facing tools
- Comfort working directly with product and engineering teams to gather and verify information
- A portfolio or writing samples demonstrating clear, structured technical content
- Excellent editing skills and attention to consistency and accuracy
Nice to have
- Experience writing for both technical (developer/API) and non-technical (consumer-facing) audiences
- Familiarity with markdown-based publishing workflows or static site documentation tools
- Interest in or exposure to healthcare, directories, or marketplace/ranking products
