About Us

At Cloudflare, we are on a mission to help build a better Internet. Today the company runs one of the world’s largest networks that powers millions of websites and other Internet properties for customers ranging from individual bloggers to SMBs to Fortune 500 companies. Cloudflare protects and accelerates any Internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code. Internet properties powered by Cloudflare all have web traffic routed through its intelligent global network, which gets smarter with every request. As a result, they see significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks. Cloudflare was named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top Company Cultures list and ranked among the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company.

At Cloudflare, we’re not looking for people who wait for a polished roadmap; we’re looking for the builders who see the cracks in the Internet that everyone else has simply learned to live with. We value candidates who have the instinct to spot a "normalized" problem and the AI-native curiosity to create a solution using the latest tools. Our culture is built on iteration, leveraging AI to ship faster today to make it better tomorrow, while ensuring that every improvement, no matter how small, is shared across the team to lift everyone up. If you’re the type of person who values curiosity over bureaucracy, and that AI is a partner in solving tough problems to keep the Internet moving forward, you’ll fit right in.

About the Role

Every product decision we make directly impacts the millions of Internet properties (powering websites, remote teams, APIs, and mobile apps) running on our global network. Cloudflare's network is one of the largest in the world, spanning over 330 cities in more than 125 countries, and operating within 50 milliseconds of 95% of the Internet-connected population globally (for context, the blink of an eye is 300 to 400 milliseconds!). We are passionate about making the Internet more secure, reliable, and faster for everyone.

Cloudflare’s Product Management team defines the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the features that power this massive global footprint. Product Managers bridge the gap between user needs, technical feasibility, and business impact by working directly with engineering, design, sales, and marketing to solve complex problems at scale. Whether defining APIs, shaping control plane workflows, or launching new security and performance features, our PMs turn ambitious ideas into intuitive products.

The ideal Product Manager Intern is curious, user-focused, and passionate about making the Internet a better place. You won't just shadow team members; you will own product initiatives, gather customer insights, define requirements, and collaborate closely with experienced engineers and designers to ship real features that reach millions of people worldwide. We like to get things done, so we are looking for interns who are proactive, analytical, and eager to drive projects from concept to launch. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring PMs to learn how to manage and scale products at Internet scale.

You can check out our internship blogs to learn more about our program and hear directly from our past interns.

Responsibilities

As a Product Manager Intern, you will be the voice of the user. You will own a project focused on improving our products, enhancing the user experience, and driving the development of key features. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Define the Future: Conduct user research and competitive analysis to understand user needs and market trends. You will identify pain points and uncover opportunities to make our tools best-in-class.
  • Collaborate to Build: Work hand-in-hand with engineering, design, and product leaders to bring your vision to life, ensuring features are built to spec, meet user expectations, and solve hard technical problems at scale.
  • Drive for Impact: Help define success metrics and ensure the features you launch are not only technically sound, but also drive measurable business value and solve real-world problems for our users.
  • Solve Complex Problems: Proactively analyze challenges, balance technical feasibility with user needs, and turn market constraints into opportunities for innovation and growth.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A strong passion for technology and a deep empathy for user needs.
  • Technical literacy, with the ability to understand architectural concepts and empathize with developer workflows.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A self-starter mindset that thrives in ambiguity and takes initiative.
  • Ability to commit to a full-time (40 hours/week) 12-week internship.
  • In-office expectation of 3–5 days per week in Lisbon, PT.

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with networking, security, or Zero Trust concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS).
  • Hands-on experience with developer tools, APIs, or personal projects using Cloudflare products (such as Cloudflare for Students).
  • Previous experience writing product specifications, building wireframes, or conducting user research.
  • Basic coding ability or familiarity with command-line tools and developer workflows.

Compensation:

For Portugal based hires: the monthly salary is €2,450.

Please Note:

  • We hire interns on a rolling basis until all roles are filled.
  • We are not considering remote or part-time applicants. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) internship with in-person expectations during standard business hours (typically 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM). You should not be enrolled in conflicting classes during the internship term.

What Makes Cloudflare Special?

We’re not just a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company. We’re a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company with a soul. Fundamental to our mission to help build a better Internet is protecting the free and open Internet.

Project Galileo: Since 2014, we've equipped more than 2,400 journalism and civil society organizations in 111 countries with powerful tools to defend themselves against attacks that would otherwise censor their work, technology already used by Cloudflare’s enterprise customers--at no cost.

Athenian Project: In 2017, we created the Athenian Project to ensure that state and local governments have the highest level of protection and reliability for free, so that their constituents have access to election information and voter registration. Since the project, we've provided services to more than 425 local government election websites in 33 states.

1.1.1.1: We released 1.1.1.1 to help fix the foundation of the Internet by building a faster, more secure and privacy-centric public DNS resolver. This is available publicly for everyone to use - it is the first consumer-focused service Cloudflare has ever released. Here’s the deal - we don’t store client IP addresses never, ever. We will continue to abide by our privacy commitment and ensure that no user data is sold to advertisers or used to target consumers.

Sound like something you’d like to be a part of? We’d love to hear from you!

What applying to Cloudflare usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through greenhouse for roles at Cloudflare can typically expect an online application followed by an automated confirmation email. Greenhouse-based processes generally allow candidates to track application status through email updates, though response times vary and are not guaranteed. Interview formats may include multiple stages, such as phone screens, panel discussions, or take-home exercises, depending on the seniority and function of the role.
