Job descriptionReq 20208

Overview

The Technical Architect II specializing in AI Architecture & Enablement provides advanced architectural leadership within an assigned business area, aligning AI-enabled solution development with broader architecture direction while remaining closely connected to implementation.

This role translates business and product needs into practical, implementable architectures for AI-enabled applications, agents, retrieval-augmented generation solutions, intelligent workflows, and supporting application, service, API, data, and platform components. The architect helps engineering and Support technology teams evaluate where AI can create meaningful business value and guides those opportunities from technical exploration through scalable, secure, maintainable production implementation.

As a senior technical leader, the Technical Architect II drives architecture within their assigned scope, establishes and applies technical standards, and guides teams through design decisions involving cost, scalability, security, reliability, data protection, maintainability, and operational support. The role balances strategic architectural thinking with hands-on technical depth through prototypes, reference implementations, design reviews, technical guidance, and implementation oversight.

The Technical Architect II also enables engineering teams to adopt effective AI development practices. This includes architectural guidance for agents, retrieval and knowledge integration, model and framework selection, evaluation practices, prompt and context engineering, tool integration, human oversight, and AI-assisted software development. The role identifies recurring technical challenges and turns those learnings into reusable patterns, examples, and guidance that can be applied by teams within the assigned organization.

This role may provide architectural leadership for AI-powered capabilities supporting Engineering, Support, or other assigned business functions. It partners with Product, Engineering, Support, Security, Data, Platform, Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, and knowledge-system owners as needed to ensure solutions use trusted information, enforce appropriate permissions, preserve provenance, and operate within organizational and regulatory constraints.

The Technical Architect II does not own the enterprise AI platform, enterprise AI strategy, or every AI implementation. The role owns architectural execution and team enablement within its assigned area while partnering with senior architects, Enterprise Architecture, and shared AI, Data, Security, and Platform teams when broader alignment is required.
