OARnet is seeking a detail-oriented student pursuing a four-year college degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field for a paid Ohio State University student worker position. The student designer's primary responsibilities will be to build and maintain visual communication diagrams and artwork for internal and external audiences, predominantly using Adobe Illustrator and established templates.


The designer will use Illustrator templates to translate engineering sketches into polished diagrams and develop additional visual assets as needed.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a genuine enthusiasm for informational graphics, along with an interest in technology and learning new subjects. Strong organizational skills, consistency, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

This position offers a flexible work schedule and the opportunity to develop Illustrator and visual communication skills further. 

Education/Experience Required

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel.

Additional Information:

  • This position offers employment throughout the year, including the summer months and academic breaks, optionally.

  • Work schedule: Flexible during business hours 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday-Friday

  • The position is a hybrid position; during the training period, the candidate must be on-site ( office location is on West Campus – 1224 Kinnear Road)

The Targeted Hiring Rate for this position is $14 hourly.
