DATA ANALYST

LOCATION: TOKYO OR MELBOURNE/SYDNEY

ABOUT R/GA AND THIS ROLE:

R/GA designs intelligent brand systems that help businesses get ahead.

The Data practice gives those systems their intelligence and proves we get brands ahead.

Reporting will always be part of the job. But our work is changing rapidly towards building the systems and solutions that help brands decide and act.

This role sits at the centre of that shift. A measurement framework can become a test-and-learn programme. A dashboard can become an always-on intelligence solution across multiple surfaces. Repeated manual analysis can become an automated pipeline. Your job is to deliver what is needed now and spot what it should become next.

ON ANY GIVEN DAY YOU MIGHT:

  • Develop measurement frameworks aligned to business goals & strategy.
  • Present performance results to a client and give them one clear recommendation, not five hedged options.
  • Implement, test and debug analytics tracking on a client's site or app.
  • Build and ship a working AI pipeline from a clear spec. Prompts, evaluation, data in and out, documented so a peer can run it.
  • Pull data from BigQuery, GA4, media platforms or a CRM and work out what it is actually saying.
  • Build a dashboard that a client opens every Monday and trusts. Then ask what it would take to make the dashboard unnecessary.
  • Take a reporting task you were handed and come back with the thing it should have been.
  • Write the spec for the next thing we build.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU ON DAY ONE:

We are hiring for someone who already builds with AI because they cannot help themselves, who finds marketing data interesting, and who wants to learn from the team, the strategists, designers and technologists sitting next to them.

  1. You have built something with AI. A side project, a university assignment, a work tool or a weekend experiment. You have written prompts that failed, fixed them and shipped something another person used. You can show us what you built, explain how you tested it and tell us what you would improve.
  2. You care about AI beyond the hype. You read the model release notes. You experiment with new tools. You have opinions about where this is going and want to spend the next few years getting very good at applying it.
  3. You find marketing fascinating. Media performance, website analytics, CRM, loyalty, brand health and search. You understand that these are connected systems that influence whether a brand grows, and you want to know how they work together.
  4. You use numbers to change what happens next. A finding nobody acts on is a finding you have not finished. You care more about the decision the data drives than the chart it sits in, and you will push until someone does something differently because of what you found.

YOU BRING:

  • Experience building with large language models. Prompt design, retrieval, evaluation, tool use or multi-step pipelines. Professional, academic or self-taught all count.
  • Experience taking data end-to-end from analysis and insight development through to clear, compelling presentations for senior and executive stakeholders. You can turn complex findings into a story that supports a decision.
  • Working Python and SQL knowledge. You can read, write and debug both.
  • Hands-on time with messy real-world data. You can join it, clean it, structure it, and spot a wrong number before anyone tells you.
  • Familiarity with at least two of: GA4 or Google Tag Manager, BigQuery, Looker Studio or Power BI, Adobe Analytics, a media platform (Meta, Google Ads, DV360), a CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, Braze).

If you have any requests or requirements to support you throughout any interview process, please do let us know.

What applying to R/GA Careers Page usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through greenhouse for R/GA can generally expect a structured application process typical of this ATS platform. Applicants typically submit a resume and cover letter through an online form, which may also request a portfolio for design or engineering-related roles given the nature of positions like product-designer or design-engineer. The process may include multiple stages, such as an initial recruiter screen, followed by interviews with hiring managers or team members, and potentially a skills assessment or portfolio review for creative and technical roles. Communication is commonly handled through automated email updates generated by the system, though response times vary depending on the volume of applicants and internal scheduling. Candidates should ensure their materials are tailored to the specific role to align with commonly used application screening practices.
