Casework produces AI Act conformity files, Fundamental Rights Impact Assessments, and Article 9 risk documentation for AI hiring tools, working against fixed-price, four-week engagements. We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build the internal tooling and production systems that make this methodology possible — the platform that supports discovery synthesis, regulation mapping, draft assembly, and citation verification across engagements.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain internal systems and tools that support Casework's production methodology, including workflow and document-assembly pipelines
- Partner with the founder and delivery team to translate methodology steps (intake, discovery, drafting, review, handoff) into reliable, repeatable software
- Build integrations and tooling that incorporate AI-assisted synthesis and citation verification into the production workflow
- Own technical decisions for the systems you build, including architecture, data handling, and reliability
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and review the work of teammates as the engineering team grows
- Identify opportunities to automate or streamline repetitive parts of the production cycle
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production systems
- Strong fundamentals in backend engineering, API design, and data modeling
- Experience building tools that integrate with or orchestrate AI/LLM-based workflows
- Comfort working in a small, fast-moving team where you own projects end-to-end
- Strong written communication skills, since documentation quality and precision matter deeply to this business
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgment calls with limited specification
Nice to have
- Experience building document-generation, compliance, or regulatory-technology tooling
- Familiarity with retrieval, citation-verification, or structured-drafting pipelines involving LLMs
- Interest in AI governance, regulatory compliance, or HR technology
