API Engineer

DoubleTap Consulting is a senior-only software consultancy that builds custom websites, product platforms and internal software for streaming, SaaS and commerce teams, working with clients including Hulu, Auth0, Italic and Raven Health. We're hiring an API / Integrations Engineer to help design and build the connective layers — internal tools, dashboards and third-party integrations — that let client teams' systems work together cleanly.

What you'll do

• Design, build and maintain APIs and integration layers connecting internal tools, dashboards and third-party services
• Work directly with clients and senior engineers to scope integration requirements without a layer of account management in between
• Build and maintain webhooks, authentication flows (OAuth, API keys, SSO) and data-sync pipelines between disparate systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration failures, rate-limiting issues and data-consistency problems in production
• Write clear technical documentation for APIs and integration points so client teams can own and extend them after handoff
• Collaborate with product and design on how integrations surface in end-user workflows

What we're looking for

• Several years of professional experience building and maintaining production APIs (REST and/or GraphQL)
• Strong experience with Node.js and Postgres, or directly equivalent backend technologies
• Hands-on experience integrating third-party platforms and services (payment processors, CRMs, auth providers, or similar)
• Solid understanding of authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth2, API keys, webhooks, SSO)
• Comfort owning a technical problem end-to-end with direct client contact, without a large team structure around you
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including documenting technical decisions for non-engineering stakeholders

Nice to have

• Experience with Next.js or React in a full-stack capacity
• Experience with Stripe Connect or other payment infrastructure integrations
• Experience with CMS or marketing-stack integrations (e.g., HubSpot)
• Background working in a consultancy or agency environment with multiple concurrent clients
