Solutions Architect

DoubleTap Consulting is a software consultancy that builds custom websites, product platforms and internal software for streaming, SaaS and commerce teams. The team is senior-only, with no account layer or junior bench between clients and the people doing the work — engagements are run directly by the engineers and designers who scope them. We're hiring a Solutions Architect to help shape technical direction across client engagements, from initial scoping through delivery and handoff.

What you'll do

• Lead technical scoping conversations with prospective and current clients, translating business goals into concrete architecture and delivery plans
• Design system architecture for web platforms, applications and APIs, balancing performance, maintainability and time-to-ship
• Set technical direction across concurrent engagements, working directly alongside senior engineers rather than delegating through account layers
• Evaluate tradeoffs around infrastructure, observability and release process so client teams can own systems after handoff
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients during an engagement, keeping scope, sequencing and cost decisions clear and honest
• Review architecture and code from other senior engineers to keep engagements consistent with the standard the firm holds itself to

What we're looking for

• Significant experience architecting and shipping production web applications, platforms or APIs
• Hands-on fluency with modern web stacks such as Next.js, React and Node, with the judgment to choose the right approach for a given engagement rather than a default one
• Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders on scoping, sequencing and technical tradeoffs, not just execution
• Strong instincts for infrastructure, cloud architecture and release process, with an ability to hand systems off cleanly to a client's own team
• Comfort operating without a large supporting bench — someone who can both design the architecture and speak to its details credibly in the room
• Clear, direct communication, written and verbal, with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

• Experience with React Native for cross-platform builds spanning iOS, Android and web
• Experience with e-commerce, payments infrastructure (e.g. Stripe Connect) or CMS architecture
• Background working in a consultancy or agency environment across multiple concurrent client engagements
