DoubleTap Consulting is a senior-only software consultancy that builds custom websites, product platforms and internal software for streaming, SaaS and commerce teams. We're hiring a Senior WordPress / CMS Engineer to lead CMS architecture work across client engagements — including marketing site builds, platform migrations, and headless or hybrid CMS setups designed to survive traffic spikes and rebrands without breaking.
What you'll do
- Architect and build WordPress and CMS-driven websites for clients across streaming, SaaS and commerce, from custom themes and plugins to headless front-end integrations
- Lead migrations from legacy CMS platforms with zero loss of URL structure, SEO equity, or content fidelity
- Design content models and editorial workflows that let marketing teams manage their own site without engineering support
- Build and maintain performant, secure, and scalable CMS backends, including custom post types, taxonomies, and REST/GraphQL API integrations
- Own technical decisions on your engagements directly with the client, with no account layer in between
- Set up infrastructure, hosting, and release processes that the client's own team can run after handoff
What we're looking for
- 5+ years building and architecting WordPress sites, with deep knowledge of theme and plugin development, custom fields, and the WordPress REST API
- Strong PHP fundamentals and experience integrating WordPress with modern JavaScript front ends (React or Next.js)
- Track record of large-scale CMS migrations with strict parity requirements (URLs, copy, SEO)
- Comfort owning an engagement end-to-end and communicating directly with clients on scope, tradeoffs, and timelines
- Solid understanding of web performance, caching, and security best practices for high-traffic WordPress sites
- Experience with headless WordPress or decoupled CMS architectures
Nice to have
- Experience with other CMS platforms (Contentful, Sanity, Webflow) in addition to WordPress
- Familiarity with Node.js and Postgres-backed applications
- Experience integrating CMS platforms with marketing tools like HubSpot
