Next.js Engineer

DoubleTap Consulting is a senior-only software consultancy that builds custom websites, product platforms and internal software for streaming, SaaS and commerce teams, working directly with clients like Hulu, Auth0, Italic and Raven Health. We're hiring a Senior Next.js Engineer to join our engineering team and take ownership of client engagements from scoping through launch and handoff.

As a Senior Next.js Engineer, you'll work directly with clients and the rest of the senior team to design, build and ship production web platforms — with no account layer or junior bench between you and the work.

What you'll do

• Architect and build production Next.js applications, from marketing sites to complex product platforms
• Own technical decisions on your engagements, including performance, SEO, and rendering strategy (SSR, SSG, ISR)
• Design and integrate APIs and backend services, typically built on Node and Postgres
• Lead migrations and replatforms with an emphasis on zero data loss and minimal downtime
• Set up infrastructure, observability and release processes that client teams can run independently after handoff
• Communicate directly with client stakeholders on scope, sequencing and technical tradeoffs

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of professional web engineering experience, with deep expertise in React and Next.js
• Strong command of TypeScript and modern frontend architecture and state management patterns
• Experience with Node.js and relational databases (Postgres or similar) on the backend
• Track record of shipping complex platforms end-to-end, from architecture through launch
• Comfort working directly with clients or stakeholders without a layer of account management in between
• Strong instincts for performance, accessibility and maintainable code at scale

Nice to have

• Experience with React Native for cross-platform mobile builds
• Experience migrating legacy sites or platforms with strict URL and SEO parity requirements
• Familiarity with payment integrations (e.g., Stripe Connect) or CMS architecture for non-technical teams
