DoubleTap Consulting is a software consultancy that builds custom websites, product platforms and internal software for streaming, SaaS and commerce teams, working with clients like Hulu, Auth0, Italic and Raven Health. We're looking for a Technical Writer to bring clarity and precision to the documentation, technical content and internal knowledge that support our engagements and our engineering team.
What you'll do
- Write and maintain technical documentation, including internal engineering guides, API references, and process runbooks
- Translate complex technical concepts from senior engineers and designers into clear, accurate content for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Partner directly with the engineers and designers running each engagement to document architecture decisions, integration patterns, and handover materials for clients
- Create and maintain documentation standards, templates and style guidelines across projects
- Produce client-facing deliverables such as onboarding guides, release notes and post-engagement handover documentation
- Review and edit technical content for accuracy, consistency and clarity before it ships
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a technical writer, documentation specialist, or similar role in a software or technology environment
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to explain technical systems clearly and concisely
- Comfort working directly with engineers to gather information without needing heavy hand-holding
- Experience documenting APIs, software architecture, or internal tools
- Ability to manage multiple documentation projects across different clients or engagements simultaneously
- Solid grasp of version control and documentation tooling (e.g., Markdown, static site generators, or similar)
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Next.js, React, or Node-based application environments
- Experience writing for a consultancy or agency setting with multiple concurrent clients
- Background in creating design systems documentation or CMS user guides for non-technical teams
