Job descriptionFull Time
HireAIScore is an independent directory that scores AI hiring vendors against a published rubric tied to the EU AI Act, NYC Local Law 144, the Colorado AI Act, and Illinois HB 3773. We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the platform that powers our vendor rankings, scoring rubric, and public-facing tools.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain backend and/or frontend systems that power vendor scoring, rankings, and comparison tools
- Collaborate with editorial and research teams to translate scoring methodology and rubric logic into reliable, maintainable software
- Own features end-to-end: technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of core services as the vendor directory and traffic grow
- Review code and mentor other engineers, raising the overall bar for quality and craftsmanship
- Work closely with product to scope and ship new tools and site features based on user and editorial needs
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production systems
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js, Java) and comfort working across the stack
- Experience designing data models and APIs that need to stay accurate, auditable, and versioned over time
- Solid understanding of testing, code review, and deployment practices for production web applications
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and make sound technical tradeoffs with limited direction
- Comfort collaborating with non-engineering teams (editorial, research, product) to turn subject-matter requirements into working software
Nice to have
- Experience building content-heavy or data-heavy public web platforms (directories, marketplaces, comparison tools)
- Familiarity with versioned rules engines, scoring systems, or rubric-driven data models
- Interest in AI governance, regulatory compliance, or HR tech
