Overview

Instacart Ads is one of the fastest-growing and most strategically important parts of the Instacart business. Our Ads organization brings together product, engineering, data science, design, sales, and strategy to build a world-class advertising ecosystem — one that serves brands, retailers, and agencies looking to reach millions of shoppers at the point of purchase.

The Advertiser & Partner Experience (APEX) team sits at the heart of this ecosystem. We own the flows and tools that advertisers use to create, manage, optimize, and understand the value they derive from campaigns and promotions across Instacart Ads. Our scope spans Ads Manager and its APIs, advertiser-facing reporting and insights, retailer advertising products, and Carrot Ads — a growing suite of tools that enables retailers to monetize their own e-commerce sites using Instacart's ad tech, brand partnerships, and expertise.

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to own a critical portion of the Advertiser Experience — specifically, the tools and platform capabilities that help advertisers understand the value they're getting from Instacart Ads, trust those results, and act on them. This PM will also own the core platform infrastructure that underpins all aspects of campaign creation, management, and reporting, including API, product library, user management, change history, billing, and notifications.

This role is an opportunity to own a high-impact, highly visible product surface that directly shapes how advertisers engage with and derive value from one of the industry's most exciting retail media platforms. Over time, as you demonstrate mastery of your scope, you'll have the opportunity to take on increasing strategic ownership and step into a senior PM lead role for the Advertiser Experience team as a whole.

About the Job

  • Own the problem space of advertiser value measurement — defining how advertisers understand, trust, and act on the results they're seeing from Instacart Ads campaigns, and building the reporting and insights experiences that make that possible.
  • Own and evolve core platform capabilities that support all stages of the advertiser journey, including API infrastructure, product library, user management, change history, billing, and notifications — ensuring these foundations are reliable, scalable, and built to support a sophisticated advertiser base.
  • Serve as a primary product point of contact in external conversations with advertisers and agency partners — sharing roadmap direction, gathering strategic feedback, and helping to nurture relationships that inform product decisions and drive trust in the platform.
  • Work cross-functionally across a 100+-person Ads R&D team — collaborating with engineers, data scientists, designers, and researchers — as well as with sales, strategy, and commercial enablement teams to drive alignment and deliver impact across a complex, fast-moving organization.
  • Grow into a senior PM lead for the Advertiser Experience team over time, including providing strategic guidance and serving as a thought partner to a more junior PM on the team, as you demonstrate command of your scope and expand your ownership footprint.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product management experience, with a track record of independently owning complex, cross-functional product areas.
  • Experience building or owning B2B platform products, including enterprise UX flows and underlying platform infrastructure.
  • Strong technical acumen — comfortable engaging deeply with engineering teams on system design, APIs, and platform architecture.
  • Experience managing external partner or customer relationships as part of a product role, not just internal stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technical and business context for both engineering teams and executive audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in ad tech, retail media, or marketplace advertising, particularly on the demand or advertiser side — for example, owning advertiser-facing campaign management or reporting flows.
  • Familiarity with programmatic advertising concepts, including auction mechanics, ad serving, attribution, billing and revenue share, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Prior experience at a company where the platform you owned enabled third-party businesses to operate — such as a white-label ad platform, a marketplace API, or an embedded commerce product.
  • Experience driving strategic expansion into new business verticals or partner segments.
  • Demonstrated ability to ship in ambiguous, high-stakes environments where product scope, technical constraints, and business requirements are evolving simultaneously.

What applying to Instacart usually looks like

The process may include multiple stages such as a hiring manager conversation, technical or role-specific assessments, and panel interviews with cross-functional team members, depending on the position applied for. Greenhouse-based processes commonly involve structured interview kits, meaning candidates may be asked similar or standardized questions across interviewers to support consistent evaluation. Take-home exercises or case studies are sometimes used for technical, analytical, or design roles. Communication is generally handled through automated email updates from the platform, though response times vary by team and volume of applicants.
