Job Title:

HR Service Center Representative 2

Department:

Human Resources | Core Services Shared Services

Your Next Chapter:

Welcome to a fast-paced, people-centered environment where every day brings something new. As part of our HR Service Center team, you will be at the heart of employee support—fielding a high volume of inbound calls, written inquiries, and in-person interactions from a broad audience that includes faculty, staff, student employees, retirees, and prospective hires. Whether it is a quick question or a complex situation, you’ll be the first line of guidance, empathy, and resolution.

This is a hybrid role, combining remote work with on-site responsibilities in a fast-paced call center environment. Our team operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM – offering a stable schedule that supports a healthy work-life balance. You’ll collaborate closely with a tight-knit group of professionals who support each other, share knowledge, and celebrate wins—big and small.

We’re looking for curious problem-solvers who thrive on learning and love helping others. If you're a self-starter who can stay calm in unpredictable situations, handle sensitive conversations with grace, and bring a friendly, professional demeanor to every interaction, you’ll fit right in. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, values teamwork, and wants to make a real impact through meaningful human connection.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Serves as the primary contact for incoming HR and payroll-related inquiries via phone, email, mail, in-person and Self Service. Provides timely and accurate support to a wide range of individuals—including current and former employees, retirees, their dependents, and external partners. Resolves issues of low to moderate complexity independently and escalates more complex matters to the appropriate Service Center resources, ensuring consistent and precise handling of every inquiry. Provide guidance on university policies, benefits, payroll, and employment procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Partner with HR Shared Services teams to navigate and resolve complex inquiries, ensuring seamless coordination and accurate resolution across HR functions.
  • Support HR initiatives and contribute to process improvements.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in human resources, customer service, and/or inbound call center.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Workday, and case system platforms

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Advanced training or education in a related field.
  • Background in shared services, call center, higher education, or related industries such as insurance.
  • Familiarity with Workday or similar HR systems.

Additional Information:

To Apply:

Please submit your resume and a cover letter as part of your application.

In your cover letter, we’d love to hear about:

  • Your relevant experience – Describe previous customer service roles (e.g., retail, call center, administrative support).
  • The soft skills that make you a great fit.
  • Any transferable skills or experiences that you believe would add value to this role.

Given the wide range of role types, from clinical and healthcare positions to administrative, technical, and skilled trade roles, applicants may notice differing supplemental questionnaires or assessments depending on the department. The process commonly includes automated confirmation emails, and applicants can generally expect potential follow-up through the same portal for status updates.
