Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe is a global technology company that builds infrastructure for online commerce with a mission to increase the GDP of the internet. Through Bridge, Stripe is building stablecoin infrastructure that helps businesses move, store, and use money globally. This role will support Bridge as it develops and scales products for companies operating across markets.

What you’ll do

Stripe is looking for an exceptional transactional lawyer to join our commercial legal team supporting Bridge and Stripe’s fast-growing stablecoin business.

Responsibilities

  • Support Bridge’s commercial team, leading negotiations for complex and strategic user and partner agreements.
  • Advise on commercial and legal issues arising from stablecoin products, new product launches, and international expansion.
  • Work closely with Product Legal and Bridge’s product and engineering teams to bring new products and features to market.
  • Help build Bridge’s commercial legal infrastructure so the business can scale efficiently, including drafting and maintaining agreements and playbooks, improving internal processes, and using AI tooling to optimize how we work with clients, partners, and users.
  • Partner with teams across Bridge and Stripe globally, including commercial, operations, product, engineering, tax, compliance, and risk.
  • Help the team provide practical, scalable legal support while working collaboratively across a global Commercial Legal team.
  • Develop and deliver training and resources to help Bridge’s commercial team sell and support its products.
  • Be a point of escalation for outside counsel.

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Intellectually curious and a creative problem solver - Bridge’s products and the stablecoin industry are complex and fast evolving - you should relish learning new products and finding practical solutions to challenging problems.
  • A self-starter with a bias for action - you are proactive and have a strong sense of ownership.
  • A clear and concise communicator (in written and verbal forms), who can distill the key risks and explain complex, nuanced issues in plain and simple terms.
  • A natural collaborator, able to guide cross-functional teams and drive to a win-win solution.
  • Familiar with the legal issues and commercial risks arising from fintech, stablecoin, hosted data, and technology services.
  • A team player who is willing to do what it takes to contribute to the collective success.
  • Qualified with good standing membership in at least one US state bar with a JD degree or foreign equivalent.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in-house or in a technology practice group in a top law firm.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working in payments, fintech, crypto, or stablecoin businesses and knowledge of associated regulatory issues.
  • In-house experience advising high-growth companies.
  • Working knowledge of LLM tools.
  • Experience in improving legal processes with AI technology.
  • A working knowledge of data protection laws such as CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA.
