Product Counsel, Money Movement Legal (Asia-Pacific)

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Product Legal team at Stripe manages the legal and regulatory aspects of designing, building, and launching products and services. The team works on technical, commercial, and regulatory matters and advises product, engineering, and partnerships teams on issues across financial services, business, and technology.

This role supports the Money Movement and Storage business across Asia-Pacific. The business includes stored-value and e-money, foreign exchange, cross-border transfer, stablecoin and digital asset, and other financial products. The team helps ensure these products comply with applicable laws and regulations while supporting responsible product development and commercialization.

What you'll do

As Product Counsel, you'll advise teams on the legal and regulatory considerations for money movement products across Asia-Pacific. You'll partner with product, engineering, partnerships, compliance, risk, marketing, and Legal teams to navigate emerging requirements and bring products to market.

Responsibilities

  • Help the Product Legal team deliver products that comply with laws and contractual commitments to users globally
  • Advise product teams on the intersection of technological innovation, e-commerce user experiences, and financial services compliance
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, partnerships, compliance, risk, and marketing teams on product development and commercialization
  • Advise teams on new and emerging legal and regulatory developments, identify potential effects on business activities, and apply existing laws to new technologies
  • Partner with colleagues across the global Legal team to support regulatory structures, customer agreements, and strategic financial partnerships
  • Scope and build scalable processes for legal review and product launches
  • Stay up to date on money movement laws and regulations, and serve as a strategic advisor to senior managers

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer in a law firm, in-house legal team, or government agency, with expertise in payment services laws and regulations, such as the Payment Services Act of Singapore
  • Qualification to practice law, preferably in a jurisdiction in Asia-Pacific
  • Experience advising technology teams and translating complex legal requirements into clear, actionable advice
  • Ability to collaborate with teammates, share knowledge, understand complex business models and product use cases, and exercise sound judgment with imperfect information
  • Strong written and verbal communication, project management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience advising on the development of stablecoin and digital asset products, particularly across multiple regions
  • Experience supporting legal, regulatory, or commercial matters for money movement or financial services products
