Migaru AI builds an AI-native CRM that automatically files emails, meetings, and calls against customer records, drafts follow-ups and outreach, and generates forecasts and pipeline — replacing the patchwork of CRM, outreach, wiki, and data tools most sales teams stitch together. As the company's business grows, we're hiring a Legal Counsel (Privacy & Commercial) to own the commercial contracting process and build out our privacy and data protection program. You'll work closely with sales, product, and engineering teams who are shipping an AI product that reads and processes customer conversations, emails, and calls — so judgment on data handling and privacy will be central to this role.
What you'll do
- Draft, negotiate, and close customer-facing commercial agreements, including SaaS/MSAs, order forms, DPAs, and vendor contracts
- Build and maintain the company's privacy program, including policies, data processing records, and compliance with applicable data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Advise product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design considerations for features that process customer email, calendar, call, and Slack data
- Respond to customer security and privacy questionnaires, and support due diligence requests during the sales cycle
- Manage relationships with outside counsel on specialized or cross-border matters
- Develop playbooks, templates, and internal training to help non-legal teams move faster on standard contracts
What we're looking for
- JD and active bar membership in good standing
- 4+ years of experience in-house or at a law firm handling commercial contracts and privacy matters, ideally for a SaaS or data-intensive product
- Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other major data protection frameworks
- Experience drafting and negotiating DPAs, MSAs, and vendor agreements independently
- Strong ability to communicate legal risk clearly to non-lawyers and move at startup speed
- Comfort working with limited precedent and building process from scratch
Nice to have
- Experience advising on AI/ML product features, including data use and model training considerations
- Familiarity with SOC 2 or other security compliance frameworks
- Prior experience as a solo or early legal hire at a startup
